Abstract:  Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte’s only novel, is a romantic work, which tells a thrilling love story. The hero Heathcliff in the novel has once given rise to a wide range of debate and his tragedy is regrettable. Through the analysis of the hero’s tragedy and its causes, this paper aims to have a better understanding of the novel and probe into the social phenomena. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is the brief introduction to the novel; the second part is the analysis of Heathcliff’s four main tragedies; the third part points out the personal and social causes of Heathcliff’s tragedy; the last part is the conclusion, which summarizes the whole paper and explores the darkness of the Capitalism.

摘要:  《呼啸山庄》，艾米丽·勃朗特的唯一的一部小说，是一部描写惊心动魄的爱情故事的浪漫主义作品。作品中男主人公希斯克利夫曾引起广泛的热议，其悲剧命运令人扼腕。本文旨在通过对男主人公悲剧命运的研究，分析其原因，从而来更深地理解小说以及探析当时的社会现象。全文共分为四个部分，第一章是引言部分，简要介绍小说内容。第二章是分析希斯克利夫的四大悲剧。第三章指出希斯克利夫悲剧产生的个人原因和社会原因。最后一章是结论，一方面总结全文，另一方面批判资本主义的腐朽。
