Abstract: Along with the development of the reform and opening up, the communication between China and England is expanding broadly and widely. The cultural conflict, however, is inclined to occur inevitably in cross-cultural communication owing to the different way of thinking, living habits and behavior in face of the strange culture. In addition, the differences in natural environment and the ways of labor make many differences in table manners between China and England. The paper aims to analyze the similarities and differences in table manners through the cultural comparison of procedure in table manners between China and England so that foreign language learners can not only increase the understanding of the culture of the target language but also improve the successful rate of cross-culture communication so as to avoid misunderstanding and communication barriers owing to inappropriate way or behavior.

摘要：随着改革开放的发展，中国与英国之间的交流也越来越多。但是在跨文化交际中，面对陌生文化，因思维方式，生活习惯和行为方式不同，交往过程中难免发生文化冲突，并且由于中国和英国所处的自然环境和劳动方式的不同，使中国和英国有许多餐桌礼仪差异。本文通过对中国和英国餐桌流程礼仪文化的对比，旨在分析中国和英国餐桌礼仪的异同之处，不仅能增加外语学习者对所学语言文化的理解，更能提高跨文化交际的成功率, 避免由于不恰当的方式或行为造成误解和交际障碍。
