Abstract: Animal-related vocabulary gains much ground in both English and Chinese. Due to cultural differences, however, the vocabulary has different cultural connotations. In this paper, symbolic meanings of the vocabulary will be classified and analyzed. Origin of cultural factors behind the vocabulary and its evolution will be discussed. 摘要：动物词汇在英汉两种语言中出现频率很高，但是由于不同的文化背景，同一动物词汇赋予不同的文化内涵，通常一种动物的概念意义完全相同，而其文化内涵却有明显差异，有时意义甚至相反。动物词汇常带有鲜明的民族文化特征，部分动物词汇具有不同的褒贬含义，因此英汉两种语言使用和翻译中应该注意到该词的文化内涵，避免出现歧义，造成理解上的偏差和语用上的错误。本文试图将英语动物词汇的象征意义分类，分析、探讨动物词汇文化差异的产生和演变的根源。 关键词：动物词汇；文化内涵；跨文化交际 |
