Abstract: Translation theory plays an important role in translation practice, and a qualified translator should have theoretical qualification. The characteristics of translation decide that a qualified translator should also be skilled at using the source language and the target language, as well as the related cultural background. This paper illustrates the essential qualities of a qualified translator from the perspective of theoretical qualification, Chinese and English qualification, and culture qualification.
