It has a major impact on academic behavior, and is also closely related to academic standards. This paper reports on a survey examining the learning situation of Japanese major students. It finds that there are significant differences in self- confidence,motivation, attitudes towards the target language and academic behavior between the upper level and lower level study groups.The lower level group shows a relatively negative and passive result for academic emotions and academic behavior dimensions.
