Peking Opera, as the essence of Chinese traditional culture, contains a prosperous cultural heritage and artistic content, contains strong cultural thought. With the development of society, more attention are given to heritage of arts and culture. This subject begins its research with the comparison between Chinese and western cultural difference. Comparison of similarities and differences between Peking opera and opera helps us see clearly the combination between Beijing opera and western elements of music. Peking opera, the quintessence of Chinese culture, absorbs advanced-foreign cultural elements, keeps up with times. What’s more, it is welcomed and respected by western artists who have created many musical materials mixed with Peking opera. Many musicians have made an effort to this combination. When we add some elements of western music into Peking opera, it can change its soothing rhythm, the simplicity of singing and performing. Although the opera’s development has entered into its historical bottleneck, the integration of elements of Western music may be another breakthrough in its long-term development. Especially, the combination between Peking Opera and modern pop music gives us a classical and modern touch full of spark.
