Abstract
The Politeness Principle is one of the important pragmatic principles. It has been studied in all kinds of fields, including academic activity, foreign language teaching, developmental psychology, social psychology, linguistic pragmatics, social anthropology, cultural studies, communication studies and gender studies. Nevertheless, throughout these study achievements, it can be found that the Politeness Principle is always studied in the field of pragmatics and these studies are too idealized, static and general. To break away from this study situation, the author views that combining the Politeness Principle with the analysis of dialogues in movies will be a good revelation in politeness research.
In this thesis, five of Leech’s six maxims are applied in the analysis of dialogues in Roman Holiday, including Tact Maxim, Generosity Maxim, Approbation Maxim, Agreement Maxim and Sympathy Maxim. Through the examples in the analysis of dialogues in the movie, it can be observed that the application of the Politeness Principle in dialogues is advantageous to smooth and friendly communication. By this means, people can have a better understanding of characters’ conversation, emotions and characteristics in this movie. Personalities of characters, relationship between characters and mental activities of characters can be understood preferably. In other words, when designing character dialogues, the Politeness Principle can be referred to in order to enhance the popularity of movies.

摘 要
礼貌准则是重要的语用准则之一，体现了语用现象的礼貌。国内外众多专家学者对礼貌准则也进行了广泛的探讨，探讨角度涉及各个领域，尤其是对礼貌准则在语用学的范围内进行探讨。但是此前学者大多数的探讨主要集中于理论方面，着重完善礼貌准则的理论体系，英语论文，且探讨过于理想化、静态化和笼统化。本论文试图突破之前的探讨模式，讲礼貌准则实际运用到电影对白略论当中，从而丰富了礼貌准则的实践探讨。
在本文中，作者应用利奇的六大原则中的其中五个原则包括策略原则、慷慨原则、赞扬原则、赞同原则以及同情原则，对电影《罗马假日》中人物的对白会话进行举例略论探讨。通过略论，作者发现礼貌准则在对话中的运用有助于更加流畅、友好的交流。同时，英语论文网站，作者试图让读者对电影《罗马假日》中人物的性格特征、人物之间的联系以及心理活动有进一步的了解，从而认识到礼貌准则的应用在设计人物对白从而增强电影受欢迎程度方面的重要影响与意义。
