Abstract
Pride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austin, depicts four female characters and their different marriages in the early 19th century. This thesis is aimed to explore the author’s female consciousness by analyzing the four female characters and their attitude towards marriage so as to reveal Jane Austen’s attitude towards women and their marriages.
