1.1 Background of the Research
Since the 21st century, English teaching in our country has received great attention. Itmet large development opportunities, and made great achievements. Meanwhile, today’sEnglish teaching requires higher standard for English teachers. As an English teacher in thenew era, we not only have to master basic knowledge and theory to lay a solid languagefoundation of the English textbook we are teaching now so that we can master, control andsurpass the textbook skillfully, but also study the history, present situation, futuredevelopment of this subject, which can promote and update teaching ideas, improve myteaching abilities, and broaden my horizon. However, with the continuous implementationof the new curriculum reform in recent years, more and more problems in English teachingpractice occurred, which researchers are concerned about, so teachers have to overcome allsorts of difficulties, intensify reform to reverse the time-consuming unfavorable situationwith little success, teachers should deepen reform from the concepts of education,educational structure, personnel training mode, teaching content and methods andeliminate drawbacks of the middle school basic English teaching, comprehensivelyimprove the quality of English teaching with education and scientific research as theguidance of English teaching in junior middle school. Nowadays because the overall statusquo of our students’ English reading ability is not optimistic, and a considerable number ofstudents’ reading ability has stagnated or even declined, it is difficult for students toachieve the requirements of the new curriculum standards. When many students take theEnglish exam, they often lose points in the cloze test and reading comprehension, and theyspend much time and labor but fail to achieve the desired points, far from the newcurriculum standards. People who engaged in English teaching and research analyze anddiscuss the problems and the status quo of English reading teaching so that they can findthe corresponding countermeasures to improve the quality of English reading teaching andbring up English talents for our nation.

1.2Purpose and Meaning of the Research
English teaching in middle school has increasingly focused on the students’ ability tounderstand, aiming at learning effectively. How to train students’ reading ability, how toimprove students’ ability of analysis and ability to solve the problems are continually thetopic that middle school English teachers have explored. Reading course is the key meansto train students to improve their ability of reading comprehension, and the main carrier forstudents to learn new knowledge and to review the old knowledge, and readingcomprehension also place a top priority in the examination. We must pay close attention toreading lessons, fully developing the potential of reading lessons, effectively using theresources of the reading lessons to improve students' reading ability through a variety ofmethods. Almost every English teacher has come to understand the importance of readinglessons, but in the actual teaching practice, some teachers don’t know how to properly usea variety of different ways to improve students reading level and other kinds of abilities.Some teachers do not have a clear understanding of theories.
