  1.1 Research Background探讨背景
  With the development of society, the communication between different countries becomes more andmore frequently. As an international language, English is used widely and plays a leading role ininternational communication. Compared with other English skills, English writing has been widely appliedin many fields, such as letters, resumes, e-mails, reports, etc. As an important way of communication,English writing plays an active part in our daily life. Despite the importance of English writing in seniorhigh school English teaching and learning, and the great progress in the students’ ability in English, thewriting skill is still far from satisfactory. Among the four skills in language learning, namely listening,speaking, reading and writing, writing is usually considered to be the last acquired skill because it is themost difficult.”(Raimes, 1983:19)English teaching class plays an important role in developing the skills of listening, speaking, readingand writing in senior high school. Among the four skills in language study, writing teaching is usuallyconsidered as the most difficult task which worries many high school English teachers. It’s a commonphenomenon that the teachers’ effects in English writing teaching can’t get a good reward and the writingability of students haven’t improved drastically. Under this situation, it’s necessary to research the errors instudent’s writing according to Error Analysis.
  


  1.2 Research Motivation and Objectives探讨动机和目标
  The study was designed to analyze what errors our students often make and what are the potentialsources of errors, then help teachers think about the problems based on the theory of error analysis.Therefore, the teachers can put forward some advanced teaching strategies for students’ errors in theirEnglish writing. Based on the previous research, I adopt writing tests as research sources and analyze thedifferent errors in senior high school students’ writing, classify the kinds of errors and record thepercentage of different errors. Based on the results, I would like to analyze the errors caused by the students,hoping the quality of their writings will be improved.
  


  1.3 The Organization of the thesis论文结构
  The thesis consists of six chapters. Chapter one gives a general description of the study and introducesthe background of the current study, and then the motivation and objectives of the study are followed.Chapter two explicitly illustrates the theory of Contrastive Analysis (CA) and Error Analysis (EA).Chapter three introduces the details of research design. First, a general description, including theresearch questions, research participants and research instruments of the study.Chapter four presents the results and findings from the tests which will be analyzed by the author.According to the results, findings involving the characteristics of writing errors and the relationshipbetween learners’ strategies and their writing competence are stated comprehensively.Chapter five concludes the research findings and the implication of English writing teachi
