1.1 Significance of Selecting this Topic
Under the background of quality Education, the importance of English is becoming more and more prominent. Fluency knack in English is an important symbol of high quality talents. As a compulsory subject and with the aggravation of the employment situation for college graduates, English has to be laid emphasis on by all kinds of universities and got the necessary attention from all college students. English teaching quality has an important relationship with the graduates-quality-oriented reputation of colleges and universities, especially with educating modern talents to adapt to social development. Therefore, how to effectively carry out college English classroom teaching and improve students‘ English level, commonly attracts college English teachers‘ attention to promote their research. According to ―College English Curriculum Requirements (hereinafter referred to as ―Requirements) promulgated in 2017 by the Ministry of Education,1 college English courses, participate in the credit system in the school system to keep the undergraduate accounting for 10% of the total credits (16 credits). According to the Requirements, college English teaching requirements are divided into three levels, namely, general requirements, higher requirements and highest requirements. The design of college English courses should take full consideration to listening and speaking ability, and give enough learning hours and credits; should extensively make use of advanced information technology; should develop and construct courses based on computer and network; should provide students with a good language learning environment.

1.2 Purpose and Importance of the Research
The purposes of the research to the application of the Inquiry Teaching based on Constructivism in college English classroom mainly include the followings: (1) Provide college English teachers new teaching ideas and teaching methods. Many college English teachers are unclear about exploratory teaching, even there is a certain degree of misreading about this way of teaching, and also they don‘t know how to carry out in teaching practice. This study will present the inquiry-based teaching thought and essence to English teachers, so as to make them grasp the essence of inquiry teaching, receive the new teaching idea, change the traditional teaching method and mode, and exert students‘ initiative and enthusiasm.
