1 Introduction
Suggestopedia is a famous teaching method created by George Lozanov (G. Lozanow), a medical doctor, psychologist and educational expert, in the mid-1960s after a long period of clinical trials. In 1955, Lozanov used the suggestive therapy to treat a sonic and fatigue patient with the decline of memory, and at last made his memory recover. Lozanov spent 9 years conducting experimental research to confirm the existence of the implicit super-normal memory, and thus established a suggestive teaching method which is suggestopedia.
Lozanov considered suggestopedia as creating high motivation, building psychological trends of stimulating personal potential, organizing all kinds of unconscious factors that regards students as individuals during the process of learning communication. In broad terms, it is a research based technology and philosophy that uses learners’ holistic natural talents to provide them the highest probability of maximizing their learning, retention, and performance. Meanwhile, he also classified some features of Suggestopedia as follow: (1) Direct--detouring penetration into the psychological field of recipients; (2) High quantities--making learners store information extraordinarily; (3) High speed--enabling learners to learn with high and accelerated speed; (4) Exact--increasing the accuracy of the psychology of information processing; (5) Economic--processing information more efficiently in all programs.
