1. Introduction
During the ten years after the World War II, European poetry became extraordinary spark. The young generation was called “the silenced generation”, and they would break out sooner or later. In 1959, United States’ poet Robert Lowell published his poems under the name of  Exploration of Life, in which he removed the gentle veil of poetry in the past, with astonishing temple of Monroe; he spoke of personal experience and inner dark side of human being which the traditional poets escaped to talk about---alcohol, suicide, sexual perversion and mental illness, all of which came pouring out. Hence this special, private and chill--provoking theme became the United States-style theme, sparking a whole poetry confession hot [1](P12-15). Sylvia Plath was a pioneer of that liberal Lord to its days. In her poetry Daddy, “Daddy” became symbols of power in the patriarchal society; Plath’s heart was difficult to breathe. Throughout her life, dad was like a huge statue which cast a heavy shadow that made her life full of sufferings. Plath took her dad as her idol in order to escape loneliness, but the idol finally became the greatest threat to her life, and her whole life and beliefs then collapsed from then on. Feminists viewed that male-centered society is the cause of female oppression, so fighting against patriarchal or male was their relentless power and goals. In the works of numerous women at Sylvia’s contemporary time, finding their rights of being understood, resetting their lost identity were their entire means to fight. Moreover, Plath’s literature works are far more abundant in emotions than the ordinary poets. The recurring tragedies happened on her also got amazing response in the contemporary intellectuals. Here, through the analysis of Plath’s work, the author would like to analysize the psychological process of the 20th century feminist struggle with the patriarchal society.
