Abstract
Jack London is a great writer in the American literature history at the beginning of the 20th century. In the whole of his works, The Call of the Wild is known as a landmark of London and this work wins him worldwide reputation. London integrates deep implication into the novel with vivid scene descriptions and delicate plots. Its simple but refined descriptions are thoughtful and bring readers endless inspiration. Up to now, scholars at home and abroad have mainly studied The Call of the Wild from many perspectives, such as naturalism and ecologism. This thesis is going to interpret the novel from symbolism perspective, principally analyzing the symbol of wild in the novel.
This thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter One gives a brief survey of London’s life and an introduction to The Call of the Wild. Chapter Two presents previous studies about this novel and a general introduction to symbolism and symbol as a theoretical basis. It shows the significant position of symbolism in literature and also illustrates the purpose and importance of this thesis. The main body of this thesis is Chapter Three, which analyzes the textual meaning of wild from the approach of symbolism. It explores what are the roles of these three aspects played in the change and evolution of Buck. Chapter Four is the conclusion part.

杰克·伦敦是20世纪初美国文学史上的一名伟大作家。在他的所有著作中,《野性的呼唤》被视为里程碑式的作品,并使作者名扬海外。作者在小说中融入了深刻的寓意,生动的场景,精心安排的细节,及其简单而不失精炼的描写,引人入胜、令人深思。迄今为止,国内外的学者对《野性的呼唤》的探讨多从自然主义和生态主义的角度出发。本文将从象征主义入手,英语毕业论文,揭示著作中野性的象征寓意。
本论文共可分为四个部分:第一章主要是对作者杰克·伦敦的生平及其代表作《野性的呼唤》进行简要介绍。第二章为文献梳理部分,主要是对以往有关这部著作的探讨进行总结回顾,同时介绍论文的理论基础——象征主义,并提到了论文的目的和意义。第三章是本文的主体部分,英语论文范文,通过文本细读,来略论小说如何应用象征主义手法来表达野性的深层含义。该章节从三个方面来略论它们各自在主人公巴克演变过程中扮演的角色。第四章是结论部分。
