1. Introduction
Over 100 years ago, a short story was written to fill an empty space in a magazine which was otherwise ready for publication. This seemingly insignificant work, about a soldier in the U.S. Army, has since become one of the most published documents in the history of printed word. A Message to Garcia has been translated into every major language on the earth, with over 800 million copies in print. This is said to be a larger circulation than any other literary works have ever attained during the lifetime of an author throughout the history.
This tale of the soldierly self-reliance during the Spanish-American War is historic greatest motivational lesson, now collected with Elbert Hubbard's most treasured inspirational works. Elbert Green Hubbard, as an American writer, publisher, artist and philosopher, is an influential exponent of the Arts and Crafts Movement and is, perhaps, most famous for his essay A Message to Garcia. This book touches so profoundly a chord in readers that, after its publication in 1899, it becomes one of the most widely read works in human history. ,英语毕业论文,英语论文范文 |
