“死亡”这一主题是文学著作中永久而古老的情结，因为对死亡的恐惧是人类最原始最基本的心灵体验，因而死亡情结也就成了生命哲学的首要主题。在文学史上，伟大的作家对死亡往往有着一种超乎寻常的痴迷，英语论文网站，在生与死的对立与抉择中，通过展现人物走向死亡的过程以及面对死亡的种种思考来反观人对生命的态度。

Abstract
“Death” is a permanent and ancient theme in literary works, because of the fear for death is the most primitive human experience, which will become the primary theme of life philosophy. In the history of literature, great writers often have a great fascination with death, writing about confrontation of life and death, showing the process of dying and death and reflecting human beings’ life attitudes.
Death is an important symbol of the novel As I Lay Dying since the death occurs throughout the story. Because of Andy’s death, because of her once requirements: after the death, Anse should bury her together with her family in Jefferson. Anse, as head of the family, is an extremely lazy farmer; he doesn’t do much labor work, but gladly accepts the request of his wife, and leads his family to fulfill Addie’s wishes. Addie’s different attitudes for her husband and children when she was living also cause her children’s different reactions to her death. In this novel, we see not only the Bundrens’ suffering, also presents Andy’s different attitudes to her children, the process of her death and funeral. The relating “death” and As I Lay Dying is not only appropriately natural, but also is helpful for our readers to easily understand this novel.
