摘要
哥特式文学体裁自从其诞生之日就受到广泛欢迎。它至今仍然在文学界占据重要地位。艾米丽•勃朗特在她的代表作《呼啸山庄》中也应用了许多哥特式要素。
本篇论文的第一部分简要介绍了艾米丽•勃朗特和《呼啸山庄》。第二部分介绍了哥特小说的发展情况及哥特要素并列出《呼啸山庄》的探讨视角。第三部分略论了《呼啸山庄》中场景设置、人物和主题表现的哥特要素。最后略论艾米丽•勃朗特在《呼啸山庄》中对哥特要素的超越。不同于同时代的作家，英语论文题目，艾米丽•勃朗特并没有把她的小说的场景局限于中世纪，英语毕业论文，从而使小说增添了时代感和现实感。并且，应用自然环境描写来烘托气氛也是对传统哥特小说的超越。
基于上述略论，人们可以更加清楚地认识到《呼啸山庄》的价值，并吸引更多读者。

Abstract
Gothic literature, a literary genre, has enjoyed great popularity since it was born. It still has an important place in present literary circles. Emily Bronte also used many elements of Gothic fiction in her masterpiece, Wuthering Heights.
The first part of this thesis briefly introduces Emily Bronte and Wuthering Heights. In the second part, the development of Gothic fiction and its element are illustrated. In addition, research perspectives of Wuthering Heights are also demonstrated. The third part analyzes some Gothic elements, such as setting, character and theme in Wuthering Heights. In the last part, Emily Bronte’s improvement on the Gothic tradition in Wuthering Heights is analyzed. Different from her contemporary novelists, Emily Bronte does not confine her novel’s background to the Middle Age, which increases the historical specificity and the realistic color of her novel. What’s more, using descriptions of natural environments to set off the atmosphere is also an improvement compared with traditional Gothic novels.
Based on the above analysis, we can recognize more clearly the value of Wuthering Heights and understand why it can attract so many readers.
