Abstract
As a famous Irish writer, Samuel Beckett writes plays, novels and poets, among which play is his highest achievement. He is a representative of Theatre of the Absurd. Waiting for Godot is the greatest works of Samuel Beckett, and he also won the Nobel Prize for literature for this play.
This thesis mainly analyzes the image of the biblical prototype to explore the situation of lacking faith in western society. Part one is the introduction of Samuel Beckett and his play. Part two briefly introduces biblical prototype and analyzes the biblical prototype image in this play. Part three focuses on an analysis of the lack of faith in Waiting for Godot based on biblical prototype.
From the perspective of biblical prototype, the thesis aims at making people understand this play more deeply, inspiring people to probe into the desolation and helplessness in western countries after the World WarⅡ and encouraging people to regain faith and live with confidence.

摘 要
塞缪尔•贝克特是爱尔兰著名的作家，创作领域包括戏剧、小说和诗歌，尤其以戏剧成就最高。他是荒诞派戏剧的重要代表人物。《等待戈多》是他最伟大的一部著作，英语论文范文，他也凭借这部剧获得了诺贝尔文学奖。
论文主要从圣经原型的视角，略论著作中的圣经原型意象，从而探索该著作中所表现出来的当时西方社会的信仰缺失状态。第一部分简单介绍塞缪尔•贝克特和这部戏剧。第二部分简单介绍了圣经原型理论以及略论了该著作中的圣经原型意象。第三部分应用所略论的圣经原型意象着重略论了该著作体现出来的信仰缺失。
从圣经原型的视角，本文旨在使人们更加深刻地理解这部戏剧，英语论文范文，激发人们去探索战后西方社会的荒凉和无助，并且鼓励人们要重拾信仰，坚定信心。
