Abstract

Robinson Crusoe is the first novel that Defoe wrote. Although Robinson shows us his spirit of adventure and braveness, at the same time, it also shows the side of Robinson as a colonist. This paper analyzes the Robinson’s economic colonization and cultural colonization from the perspective of colonialism. It also shows that the process that Robinson opens up and develops the waste island and changes the primeval people named “Friday” to lose characteristics of his own nationality is the epitome of western developed countries expanding through economic and cultural colonization. It could guide people to know the essence and influence of colonialism of western countries. Finally sweep the colonialism and promote the peace and development of the whole world.

摘  要

鲁滨逊漂流记》是笛福的第一部小说,虽说主人公鲁滨逊展现了他的勇敢和冒险的精神,但是同时也展示了他作为殖民者的一面。本论文从殖民主义的角度入手来略论《鲁滨逊漂流记》主人公鲁滨逊的经济殖民和文化殖民两大殖民行为,展示出鲁滨逊开拓发展荒岛和改造原始人星期五使其丧失自身的民族文化特征的过程实际上就是西方发达国家进行经济和文化殖民扩张的缩影。引导人们了解殖民主义,了解西方发达国家的殖民本质,以此作为警戒,英语毕业论文,认清殖民主义的作用,英语论文,最终能够铲除殖民主义,促进世界和平与发展。

I. Introduction
1.1    Social Background
In the 17th century, Europe was in a stage of disintegration of feudalism and raising of capitalism. In this time, the sprout of capitalism was producing in Mediterranean coastal areas and some North-Western European regions. In the primary phase of capitalist production ways, the popular of workshop and handicraft industry, floating trade began to be prosperous. The U.K. won the maritime trade and colonial hegemony in the 17th century. After the opening of New Route, commercial center was transferred from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic coast. The U.K. had an advantageous position, so the trade developed very fast which promoted the development of workshop and handicraft industry.
