Abstract:
Alice Munro is known as "one of our greatest contemporary writers of fiction" and "Canadian Chekhov". The short stories she wrote have obtained many literary awards. In 2017, she won the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Moon of Jupiter, is a collection of short stories published in 1982. The collection won the nomination of Canada Governor General Award. “Dulse” is one of the stories in the collection. In “Dulse”, Lydia is the heroine, working as an editor and a poet. Because of something, she wanted to find herself back and live a happy life. This paper plans to give an interpretation or analysis of the story in terms of themes and characterization etc, hoping to add to the better understanding of Alice Munro and the work in question.

1 Introduction
Alice Munro is known as "one of our greatest contemporary writers of fiction" and "Canadian Chekhov". The short story which she wrote obtained many award items. In 2017, she won the Nobel Prize for Literature. The Moon of Jupiter published in 1982 and won the nominations of Canada Governor's award. “Dulse” is one story of this collection.
Alice Munro is a Canadian female writer and famous for her short stories in the world. She is also called“the master of the contemporary story” .
Munro was born in a small town which is called Ontario Wenger, where is in the Southwestern of Ontario, which is similar with the geographic background in her many works. Munro's many compositions take the Ontario as the background; significant region is her distinguishing feature of her works. Munro started to write stories in her childhood. She has written a long story and hundreds of short stories so far. She got married with James Munro in the second grade of university. Then she dropped out of school and gave birth to four daughters. However, her second daughter died soon after birth. Alice was busy with the housework all day.
