摘要
《占有》描述了一段维多利亚时期的爱情故事悲剧。故事的女主人公拉摩特是维多利亚时期新兴的女权主义者的代表,她倡导和向往着独立自由的生活。男主人公艾什已经有一位贤良淑德的妻子,他与拉摩特对文学的共同爱好让他们心心相惜,萌生情愫,但是他们的爱情深受传统社会观念阻碍,不得不选择分开。拉摩特与艾什的这段恋情悲剧充分展现了新兴的维多利亚女权主义者的爱情观。本论文主要通过对《占有》一书中的信件的文本略论,以拉摩特作为维多利亚时期女权主义者的代表,具体略论其爱情观产生的原因和具体理念,并略论得出此爱情观在维多利亚时期的结局。拉摩特的爱情观源于其社会原因和她的家庭原因。深受先进思想作用的拉摩特亲自践行着一种新的生活方式——没有男性阻挠的生活。拉摩特的爱情是以共同兴趣爱好和相互理解作为建立的基础的。她认为爱情在社会生活中扮演者可有可无的角色,然而她自己确是深深的爱着艾什,在她的个人生活中爱情占有不可或缺的地位。拉摩特懂得爱情的真谛存在于独立自主和坚持不懈的精神之中。面对生活的波折与磨难,她选择了独立自主,面对她热衷的诗歌和女权主义,她选择了坚持不懈。拉摩特的爱情观的结果是让她的生活在曲折困难中前进,让她的爱情在曲折中得到升华,她和艾什的后代对诗歌的热爱歌颂了维多利亚女权主义者执着的伟大。本论文探究维多利亚女权主义者的爱情观,英语论文,揭示维多利亚女权主义者内心世界,展示维多利亚时期男权制思想压迫下的女权主义思想发展的艰难而可贵,歌颂被男权制社会边缘化的女权主义者回归安宁生活追求自己梦想的精神。

Abstract
Possession describes a tragic love story in Victorian time. Christabel LaMotte, a representative of Victorian feminists, advocates her life of independence and freedom. Randolph Henry Ash, a poet with a traditional wife in Victorian time, falls in love with LaMotte on the basis of their common interest in literature. However, they have to cut off their relationship due to those strict social conventions. The tragic love story between LaMotte and Ash displays the concept of love of Victorian feminists. Through a textual analysis of correspondence letters in Possession, this thesis elaborates the reasons of LaMotte’s, a representative of Victorian feminists, concept of love and LaMotte’s concept of love in detail, and the outcomes of LaMotte’s concept of love in Victorian time. LaMotte’s concept of love originates from the social reason and her family reason. Deeply influenced by new ideas in Victorian society, LaMotte experiences a new way of life, a life without the interference of men. LaMotte’s love is laid on the foundation of common interest and mutual understanding. She thinks love takes an unimportant role in her social life. However, she loves Ash so deep that her love is indispensible in her personal life. LaMotte knows the essence of love exists in independence and perseverance. Facing difficulties and setbacks in life, she is independent. She is perseverant in her poetry and feminism. The outcomes of LaMotte’s concept of love make her life progress in setbacks, her love deepen through thick and thin. The grandson of LaMotte and Ash shows a great interest to poetry and this action speaks highly of the greatness of LaMotte’s perseverance. This thesis explores the concept of love of Victorian feminists, reveals the inner world of Victorian feminists, demonstrates the difficulties and value of the development of feminist idea in patriarchal Victorian society, and speaks highly of feminists, who are doomed to be marginalized by the patriarchal society, and their spirit of resorting to peaceful life and keeping on pursuing their dreams in life.
