Abstract
Born in England on September 11, 1885, D.H. Lawrence is regarded as one of the most original and controversial writers of the 20th century. He has explored the subject on the harm to humanity which came from modern civilization, especially the distorted and hided mind in sexual relationship in his whole life. He thinks big machine production and modern civilization repressed and distorted humanity, and it caused the exhaustion of mind and the body contraction of the modern people. Thus modern people face the mission of rejuvenation and self-rescue. And there are two ways to regain our vitality: the first one is return to nature and return to one’s original nature. The other is to adjust the relationship, and find a solution in the harmonious male-female relations. Regression and sex are become two main theme of the novels of Lawrence. According to the analysis of the love stories of the main characters in The Rainbow, this thesis aims to discuss the connotation, the essence and reflection of the idea of harmony in the male-female relationship.

摘 要
劳伦斯，1885年9月11日出生于英国，被认为是20世纪英国最具原创性，同时也是最具争议的作家。他一生都致力于探究现代工业文明对人性本能的戕害，英语论文网站，特别是两性联系中被扭曲和遮蔽的诸多现代问题。劳伦斯认为大机器生产和现代文明压抑和扭曲了人性，造成现代人的精神衰竭，肉体萎缩，因此现代人面临着恢复活力、自我拯救的任务。而生命力的复活有两条途径：一是回归自然，返璞归真，英语论文题目，二是调整两性联系，在和谐的两性联系中寻求生机。回归和性爱就成为劳伦斯小说的两大支柱。本文旨在通过对劳伦斯长篇小说《虹》中主要人物爱情故事的略论，进而论述劳伦斯倡导的“两性和谐”理想的内涵、本质以及对此进行的反思。

1 Introduction
D.H. Lawrence is regarded as one of the most important writers in British Literature, and one of the most original and controversial writers of the 20th century. Lawrence and his works have attracted much attention because of his profound study of the relationship between men and women. The Rainbow is regarded as a representative work of Lawrence. Up to now, this novel has been explored in numerous aspects. Many studies and comments are mainly focus on the ideal harmonious male-female relationship of Lawrence.
