Abstract
Rebecca, the masterpiece of Daphne Du Maurier illustrates the story that the heroine gradually realizes the terrible dark shadow of Rebecca, the former Mrs. De.Winter in Manderley. Occasionally, the heroine discovers the truth that the murderer of Rebecca is her husband Mr. De Winter, which leads to her struggle between sense and sensibility. And fortunately, the consciousness of the heroine wakes up in the end. This paper aims to analyze and appreciate the transformations of the heroine's consciousness and ends with the conclusion that from the beginning to the end, there is only one Mrs. De.Winter in the novel and Rebecca is actually the contrary side hidden in the heroine's consciousness.
