Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1 Introduction
This study is mainly about an application of reading strategies in senior highclassroom teaching performance, which is due to the author's inner drive to explorewhether reading strategy training can benefit students in their English learning, especiallyto explore the effects on each reading item, namely facts finding, inference, main ideageneralizing and attacking for new words.In this chapter, background of the study is introduced and objectives of the study arepresented. The importance and the structures of the paper are also demonstrated. In stage 8, students must learn to understand different opinions and attitudes of thewriter in different materials, classify different styles of reading materials, and analyzesentence strictures of long and difficult sentences. Students must learn to gain andprocess new information from multimedia, learn to enjoy simplified literature works withthe help of teachers and achieve 300,000-word amount of reading training includingtextbooks.For the last stage, stage 9 asks students to grasp the main plot and to learn of maincharacters of an English novel besides newspapers and magazines. They should learn tounderstand the meanings of bands of certain goods, guess different languagephenomenon from different situations and contexts, and form habits of using Referencesand dictionaries. The most important one in this stage is to cultivate students' extensivereading interest and reading habits (New Curriculum of Senior English 2017).

1.2 Background of the Research
With the development of society, English is becoming widely used nowadays, andespecially with the implementation of reform policy in China, the demands of foreignlanguages are sharply increased throughout the country. The prosperity of Englishlearning comes around the corner. The fact that most schools have chosen to studyEnglish is generally accepted. English is a main course for every middle school studentto learn. The aim of New Curriculum of Senior English is to let students have clear learningfocus, develop the ability of independent and cooperative learning, form effectivelearning strategies, and improve integrating language ability. Integrating language abilityis made up of language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitudes, learningstrategies and language awareness.Based on the characteristics of cognitive ability and learning development of seniorstudents, New Curriculum of Senior English emphasizes on improving students'information-collecting, problem-analyzing and problem-solving abilities.According to New Curriculum of Senior English, the English standard includes 4stages (stage 6, 7, 8, 9). Among these stages, stage 7 is the necessary part for students toreach in senior high schools, but stage 8 and 9 are only designed for those who are willing to improve their integrating language skills. For reading part, stage 6 requiressenior students to obtain main ideas from reading materials, guess meanings of newwords from syntax and context, predict the development of a story from its context clues,use different reading strategies for different purposes, look for the information neededthrough different sources and obtain 180,000-word amount of reading training besidesreading textbooks.While in stage 7, senior students are required to learn to infer the purpose of thewriter, overcome the difficulty of new words, read some ,英语论文范文,英语论文
