Whether or not allowing students in the United States of America to equip with guns which have been considered to be the most high-powered and destruction-dealing weapon that protects its takers from being attacked by terrorists has been brought into focus in recent years captivating thousands of dwellers’ attention. This is going to probe into the reasons why students should have the permission to carry guns to make sure that their personal security is conformed in order to help more people have a better understanding in regards to this controversial debate.
Primarily, as it has been known to every citizens in the United States of America, the US constitution stipulates that every permanent resident in the USA has his or her legal right to equip with guns, and it is one of the most crucial part of Americans’ liberty. This law has been enacted successfully in the end, meaning to say, after taking a long consideration, the president as well as others who might be pertinent to implementing this law agreed with this decision. Carrying guns is the legal rights of American residents, nobody can deprive them of their own rights, otherwise, the people who do not satisfy are very likely to revolt and fight for their freedom. In addition, according to Rosenthal Lawrence, carrying hidden weapons is legal  (Lawrence, 2017). In order words, students are allowed to carry guns as long as they hide their guns until something harmful and bad happens. What is more, the United States of America which has been known as one of the most free nations should definitely do what it has promised its inhabitants. If the individual security is not guaranteed, then how could people stand and fight for their countries when something so big occurs that the country has to take actions to have a war. Students are also inhabitants in the USA, hence, they should have the right to carry guns to school.
Furthermore, people can be divided into two respective groups, namely one group contains ninety nine percent of people who are harmless and have no intention to hurt others, the other group accommodates one percent of people who want to hurt others.  The lives and dignities of ninety nine percent of people depend on the conscience and consciousness of only one percent of people, which is certainly insecure to a tremendous extent. When the ninety nine percent of people who hand their safety to those one percent of people find that they do not have anything to protect them from being attacked, what will happen? When the one percent of people who are not reliable and have great desires to hurt the rest of ninety nine percent of people, what are they going to do? How can they make sure that their lives will not be taken? Particularly for those students who are still immature and not brave and strong enough to fight for their safety, if they do not equip with something powerful like guns, they are very likely to have the feeling of insecurity as long as they are confronting attackers, thieves or robbers. Allowing themselves to be seized without putting up a fight may be their wisest choice. Who can imagine how sad, depressed and disappointed those students will be when encountering a variety of bad people who want to hurt them? Who can put himself or herself in those students’ position to feel helpless as they will be feeling ? Who can guarantee that he or she will arrive at the place where a thief attacks a student immediately every time when it happens? Nobody! However, carrying a gun will prevent these circumstances from happening. If those ninety nine percent of people who are equipped with guns, when those one percent of people who intend to hurt others who equip with guns, then they will have to consider whether it is worthy to rob him or her, therefore, the people who carry guns will be safe. Students are vulnerable, thus, bad people have the tendency to hurt students because they are too terrified to take immediate actions to repel. When those students have a very powerful weapon to protect them from being hurt, they will be more confident that they will survive and nobody can hurt them. It is worthy to mention that once everyone possesses a gun and all the thieves, robbers or other bad people are afraid of guns, the crimes will definitely be reduced.
Moreover, female students are prone to be attacked. It is common to hear that someone in a university was raped by others. How pathetic it is! According to Takele, Abulie, and Tesfaye Setegn, there was a survey which illustrated that 6.8% of female students were raped, and most of whom did not to any legal body (Abulie&Setegn, 2017). Apart from this happened in universities, the tendency in high schools is even more. Tora, Abebayehu points out that more than 26 percent of student were raped and approximately 80 percent of students who were ed suffering from sexual harassment (Tora, 2017). The number 80 really draws the public’s attention, because it means that almost every student has been harassed during their school years. Female students are considerate and weak, therefore, if they do not equip with some powerful weapons like guns, they are very likely to be harassed or raped by others without having enough ability to revolt. In order to avoid these tragedies from happening again, permitting students to equip with guns allows no delay. Nobody wants to stay at her dormitory alone doing nothing or being unable to hang out having fun as other ordinary students do. Nobody wants to be afraid of going out or meeting new people. Nobody wants to be raped by others. People who do not undergo the experience of rape can hardly feel the way that those raped students feel. More often than not, they will degenerate or quit for classes. Hence, the significance of allowing students to carry guns to their universities or schools seems to be more than clear.
In a nutshell, guns are really a kind of excellent weapon that protect students from being attacked. Schools as well as universities should spare no effort to educate their students that they are permitted to carry guns but they are not allowed to hurt people who make them unhappy. Teachers should let their students know that guns are a weapon to protect themselves not a machine that helps them kill something who makes them unhappy. The main idea of carrying a gun is not to hurt others but to protect themselves. Only being allowed to carry guns, can enable students to fight for themselves when confronting threats. Therefore, students will be fully aware of what they should do and what they should not do. Overall, taking all these factors discussed previously into consideration, we can come to a conclusion that students should absolutely be allowed to carry guns in order to protect themselves from being attacked.
