There was a news entitled “Childhood Diet Habits Set in Infancy, Studies Suggest” in the New York Times news discussing a health event. Many facts and examples have been shown in the article, especially the information on what kids should start eating before learning to walk. A variety of essential information is provided for the mums and it comes to a conclusion that children can only be healthy as well as develop a good food habit via changing the diet that every family members has rather than change the children’s own diets. The health of little children depends on their relatives. This is going to analyze the news content so that the readers will have a better understanding in regards to the health and health-care for children in terms of forming a good eating habit.
This news illustrates that everything is built from the early childhood. Before reading the article, people may not have considered that at all, on the contrary, they used to think that all our health problems would only appear when we reach the age of 20. However, the truth is that what they have been thinking is incorrect. Actually, I am fully satisfied with the arguments clarified in the news, as the author criticized the mums, “who did not pay attention to what they eat during breastfeeding their kids”. There are a considerable number of surveys recommending that when it comes to diet quality, the diet was likely to be cast in the first year. Previous research has shown that taste preferences are developed in infancy. The author focuses too much on the core ideas for feeding the children, like infants have started to form a food habit in their mums’ wombs. In order to make its idea more responsible and convincing, this news quotes a statement from Catherine A. Forestell, a professor who specializes in the field of psychology at the College of William and Marry. Using the words from the professor will definitely make this statement more persuasive, it is worthy to mention that the author has emphasized who the professor is. I think that it opinion is true, because according to Paul, Annie Murphy (2017), the eating habits will be shared when infants are in their mothers’ wombs (50-55). Meaning to say, a child has begun to form a eating habit when they are still unborn. Therefore, according this article, children will be healthier in the coming future if they can form a food habit when they are still in their mothers’ wombs.
What is more, this news discusses whether breast-feeding will influence the kid’s future diet in details. The answer is not clear, however, this news article does show that the infants who are breast-fed will be more willing are probably to drink water, eat healthy fruits as well as vegetables when they are six. In order to make it more convincing, the author has cited a study by C.D.C. However, at this time, it will be a lot better if the author had elaborated and emphasized what C.D.C is on account of the fact that audience may not be able to know what it is, hence, the effectiveness will more or less be reduced.
Thanks to concepts I have learned in this class such as: space, history, interconnections, scale, social, political, ecologic context, I am able to extend the news analysis of the event. I will attach a video which interviewed a wide range of mothers who are concerned about the obesity problem of their children and who really want to solve the health problems regarding their children. The visual video helps targeted mums vividly learn multifarious significant information from those mothers who have committed mistakes so that their experience will give the intended mums a recommendation that being careful to treat their children properly is of prime importance.
Furthermore, instead of telling people that it is unclear to say whether breast-feeding is unclear, I will use more examples from prestigious scholars. It will be better if the author had mentioned more things about the good aspects that breast-feeding brings via citing other surveys. For example, 4.5% of children who were breast fed would have to encounter obesity problem, compared with 2.8% in those kids who had been breast fed when they were born -(Rüdiger, et al, 1991, 147-150). People are less likely to be over fat if they are breast fed by their mother. Whoever sees this figure will know that breast-feeding is an excellent way to prevent the obesity.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to peruse this article meticulously, since I am just beginning to experience the similar situation currently. The information that I have learned from the article can help me prevent my future child from suffering from a large number of numerous illnesses and diseases, particularly the obesity. There is certainly another ways to describe this issue from what I have experienced. For instance, the author can spare no effort to do a research on the topic “Children Obesity” to procure more information to let more people know how serious this event is and how much they are concerned about it and video it. Afterwards, this news can be more impressive by adding this video. Additionally, I will use more examples mentioned previously to elaborate my opinions and make it more persuasive and convincing.
In a nutshell, this news is brilliant in terms of educating people that the food habit of their kids can be formed in wombs and breast-feeding can be a good way to reduce the risk rate of having obesity when growing up.
