本文主要简述的罗马人会见玛丽胡子的范文,文章主要从多方面进行描述,英语论文题目,并突出它对现代罗马仍有作用。

Actually, there are three episode of the documentary Meet the Romans with Mary Beard. Street life in Roman is the second episode of the series. Professor Mary beard who as a knowledgeable expert of Roman history lead us to observe the ancient Roman ordinary people’s life in the modern street, because ancient Roman once was a big empire dominating the western world for over 700 years, stretch from Spain to Syria, absolutely, it still has influence on modern Roman. As Professor Mary says”we are still live in its shadows, in our laws, architecture and roads.”

It is amazing to overlook the beautiful Roman, with the help of the photographers. Coliseum and imperial palace the temples, the gleaming marbles and the pleasure gardens are positive things we know about Roman, but Ms. Beard take us to experience Roman totally in different way, a way to feel the chaotic rambling and dirty Roman place where a million people lived in an ancient city , a way more close to ordinary people rather than noblemen or rich men. Taking us go down the streets and explore its the streets and explore its slum, its bathhouses and bars where the crime, sex and humor in everyday roman life by read tombstone of ordinary people. You know exactly the name, the career of the dead people by touching and reading the tombstones,it tells you shortly but comprehensively about an ancient people’s live, who are they, a barber or slave, how old are they and even their hobbies. And I begin to know the unforgotten voices behind the emperors and sad to know the poor living conditions of the ordinary people. They need to survive, to bargain with the landlord, to struggle in a small space for them to live.
Because the poor conditions of the upper floors of the high-rise building, where the space is small, the environment is bad, the light is not enough, alley between two vast building is narrow. it just was regarded as sleeping place for the poor people. Most of their activities are in the public places, therefore, social activities become an important part of their life, communal toilets, public baths, small pubs. The streets were you living room where you spend most time staying, the baths were you bath room where you get yourself cleaned and comfortable, and the bar is your kitchen where you can be supplied with wines and foods, eating and drinking and gambling and also have a glimpse the humor. We begin to understand the saying” the poor eats outside, the rich dine at home”and experience the colorful life of those ordinary roman people.
From model of the ancient city, the collection of the tombstone, museums and precious maps to the communal toilet, public baths and pubs where social activities happened, we trace the track of the ancient people’s life following Mary beard, understanding the sorrows and happiness of the ancient Roman people, we know the mass rather than few outstanding people, which gives us a new perspective to know and learn things.
What’s more, as for the appreciation of the documentary, it is appealing to me to continue watching and perceive the ancient day’s of life, the documentary is clipped properly and tell the information not tediously. It seems attractive to link the remains and the speculations together to find the lives of ordinary people. It makes people to think and imagine what was it like compared to modern life and feel the differences which are hidden and find it rather than just watching and feel bored. Generally, the kind of new idea introducing the Roman by reading and touching the tombstones of the dead people and find new clues is interesting and give me a chance to learn more about ancient Roman.
