本文主要是一篇略论金字塔历史以及重建的范文,文章主要从源远流长的历史追溯金字塔的起源,感慨古代人民的伟大智慧以及古代在没有任何现在技术创造出的建筑也是如此宏伟壮观。
Ziggurat of Ur located in present-day Dhi Qar Province, Iraq and was bulit in 2100 BCE. It was massive rectangular pyramidal structure, named step pyramid, which oriented to true North, was measured 64 m in length, 45m in width and over 30m in speculated height. It was constructed with three levels of terraces. There were three monumental staircases that lead up to a gate at the first level. Then single staircase rose to the second terrace with a platform, in which a temple stood. The materials which were used were mud and the construction was made of mud brick covered with baked bricks and the bitumen outside. The baked bricks were about 11.5 x 11.5 x 2.75 inches and weighed as much as 33 pounds, and around 720,000 baked bricks were used to support first terrace.
The reason to build the grand building is religious. The king Ur-Nammu of the Third Dynasty of Ur construct the building, giving a lofty room for the Moon Goddess Nanna who was the divine patron of the city, especially the temple on the third terrace can demonstrate the assumption. The building was the highest point of the city like a spire of a medieval cathedral and could be seen far away. Thus it could be regarded as a focal point for the pious, or food surplus could be reallocation, which can satisfied both physical and spiritual nourishment of the visitors. Therefore, as you can see, the grand building location of the temple shows people’s value about the Moon Goddess Nanna and religion culture actually played a very important role in people’s life at that time.
In the second millennium BC, Mycenae was an archaeological site in Greece, one of the major centrals of Greek civilization which dominated much of southern Greece and also a military stronghold. At that time, a very typical reconstruction structure based on the acropolis and other surrounding hills, named Cyclopean was built by Greeks. The kind of structure was named according to a one-eyed giants who can move massive stones, because the materials of the constructions are huge stones and very hard to move. The kind of similar architecture was popular throughout southern Greece, it was a circuit wall with 1105m in length, 7.5-17 in width, 12.5m in height, the stone was rather huge and it seems impossible to move it, let alone put them together. The main entrance of the Cyclopean was a grand and best known Lion Gate. After passing through a stepped ramp, you can come to the palace.
Obviously, Cyclopean is a circuit wall with pretty huge stones that is difficult to attack, thus the purpose of the fortified hill and surrounding can effectively prevent the invasion of the enemies. Therefore, the defensive value was rather important for a capital of a state which dominated the astern Mediterranean world. The Cyclopean is a stronghold and it could be very tough for the enemies to attack.
When I first saw the picture of the Ziggurats, i was surprised by the creativity of the ancient people, especially when i know clearly of the size and materials of the constructions. I was shocked to know that the ancient people built the building by using man-power without any modern machines. How can they move a huge mud bricks and compose billions of huge bricks together, and know exactly to burn the bricks into firm ones and it must be a great project. Actually, drain system also was put into consideration. Thus brilliant thoughts of the ancestors lead me to find more materials about the Ziggurat.

The same as the reason I mentioned above, reconstruction of the citadel at Mycenae is super hard project to accomplish, but the reality is that our ancestors build up the constructions using their wisdom and power. It seems unbelievable to construct by using such massive stone, even in today’s technique, but it actually there.
