With the development of the information era, we may be more dependent on the internet. To a large extent, what we do in daily life are mainly based on the internet. For instance, you do your credit-card consumption in a market, with the help of the internet in the field of finance. What’s more, with the development of B2C (Business to Customer), we are convenient to do some shopping online within doors. So the development of the internet offers the public convenience. Here I will introduce network administrator to you and analyze one issue brought out in this career.
According to Wikipedia, a network administrator is an individual that is responsible for the maintenance of computer hardware and software systems that make up a computer network including the maintenance and monitoring of active data network or converged infrastructure and related network equipment. From the definition, we can see the network administrator should be responsible for the software systems. To be brief, the network administrator should keep the network safe with their efforts. So the practitioners involved in the career of the network administrator always have to deal with network security during their work-life.
Body of the
When it comes to network security, I think everyone who has an access to network will encounter such problems. We may often hear computer virus events and hacker attacks. We may also hear some privacy leaks around us. But what’s the network security? According to reference [1], network security consists of the provisions and policies adopted by a network administrator to prevent and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification, or denial of a computer network and network-accessible resources.( Simmonds, Andrew, Peter Sandilands, and Louis Van Ekert,318-319) So the network security plays an important role in the internet. Just a short time ago, we might notice ‘Hollywood Pornographic event’ online. The hackers take advantage of the IOS system vulnerability and attack the cloud terminal of the network. The event brings out bad effect on the public. We also think of ‘Prism Event’ which is planned by NSA (National Security Agency). Due to the exposure of these events, the public become more aware of their privacy. Meanwhile, the practitioners in the field of network security pay more attention to the protection of the users’ dates which are uploaded online. Facing the technical risks in dealing with these data confidentiality, most of them spare no efforts to do some researches on it. Just like in [1], Simmonds and his partners present a framework for network security, which efficiently prevent some threats from the internet, based on proven concept. Moreover, Joshua Fogel and Elham Nehmad in their [2] mention that social networking websites should inform potential users that risk taking and privacy concerns are potentially relevant and important concerns before individuals sign-up and create social networking websites.( Joshua Fogel, Elham Nehmad, 153) So the network security is the public concern. As a practitioner, what he or she should do, I think, is to generate a novel method to keep the users’ dates safe. And then offer the users necessary ways to do their private things. Apart from the privacy of the users in the internet, more people concentrate on their consummation security in the internet. Gillin, Donna in his [3] gives his advice to guarantee the customers’ rights online. That is web sites should offer consumers reasonable access to the information a website collected about them, including a reasonable opportunity to review information and to correct inaccuracies or delete information. Conclusion
In order to guarantee the network security, as a practitioner in the field of the internet, I think I will observe the rules and laws from my vocation to keep the users’ dates safe. On top of this, I will spare my efforts to construct much safer framework to prevent some serious threats and attacks from the hackers. I will also actively cooperate with other practitioners to make our network secure. Meanwhile, I call on that our government publishes more efficient laws to sanction those who destroy the network security. What’s more, the public should cooperate with each other to fight with the ones who are harmful to our privacy and individual rights.
