The aim of this study is exploring the creative process of the Devised Theater by analyzing a play which employed mask playing as a main performing method for creating Devised Theater. Devised Theater is a form or method of performing production process where group of people create, compose, and reorganize new images through collective and collaborative works. Performing Devised Theater requires new approaches and understandings about a given text. This research suggests that mask plays and improvisation exercises help to conduct a new and collective understanding of the text. Main case in this study is a play, titled ‘Children of Dark’, that was performed at 2007 by group of students in department of theatre at YongIn university. In order to produce a Devised Theater, players tried to create several visual images mainly using mask and body performances. Through the mask play exercising, players aimed to explore their fundamental impulses and express them through gaits and gestures in everyday life. This mask and body exercise help players to build unique characters and play creative images. An improvisation exercise is also a core method for producing Devised Theater. Players composed their postures and gestures in order to express character’s emotions in a given situation without previous preparation and detail information about specific situation. New images and ideas of constructing senses were raised from the improvisation exercise. A whole sequence of senses was able to be coherently composed and re-organized in several ways based upon visualized images produced through exercises of mask play and improvising performance. I participated in the ‘Children of Dark’ production as an assistant director. As ing detail process that I observed and analyzing production process of ‘Children of Dark’ based upon Devised Theater, this study explores a potential role of mask play and improvisation exercises in creating and producing Devised Theater in a real stage.
본 연구는 가면작업을 위주로 한 구상연극(Devised Theater)의 창작과정을 탐구하는 것이다. 구상연극은 다양한 접근방식으로 이미지를 형성하고 이를 구성, 결합, 편집하여 시각적 텍스트를 창... 본 연구는 가면작업을 위주로 한 구상연극(Devised Theater)의 창작과정을 탐구하는 것이다. 구상연극은 다양한 접근방식으로 이미지를 형성하고 이를 구성, 결합, 편집하여 시각적 텍스트를 창작하는 제작과정을 말하는 것으로 이는 구성원 모두가 참여하는 공동창작과정을 통해 이루어진다. 이러한 구상연극에서는 새로운 텍스트의 개념이 요구되는데 이것은 가면작업과 즉흥훈련을 통해 만들어진 신체 표현을 시각적 이미지로 구성해 장면을 형성함으로써 가능해 질 수 있다. 2007년도에 용인대학교 연극학과 졸업공연 <어둠의 자식들>은 가면작업을 위주로 한 구상연극 제작과정으로 공동 창작된 시각적 텍스트로 무대화 되었다. 가면훈련은 가면을 토대로 한 탐구과정에서 내적충동을 발견하고 표현하는 것을 목적으로 인물의 특징을 잘 드러낼 수 있는 ‘걸음’과 ‘일상’의 훈련을 중점적으로 다루었으며 신체적 행위를 창조하고, 인물을 구축하는데 도움을 주었다. 즉흥훈련은 소설<어둠의 자식들>의 배경과 상황, 그리고 인물의 유형만을 제시함으로써 가면 인물의 정서변화를 상황 안에서 표현하는 훈련 과정으로 이루어졌다. 이를 통해 새로운 이미지의 형성과 장면구성에 관한 아이디어를 얻어 창작과정에 적용하기도 하였으며 인물의 신체표현을 구체화하는데 효과적으로 이용되었다. 위와 같은 제작과정을 통해 만들어진 장면을 주제와 통일성을 갖도록 구성하고 배열하여 시각적 텍스트를 창작할 수 있었으며 수정과정을 통해 다양한 변화를 줄 수 있었다. 이러한 제작방식을 무대 위에서 직접 실현하기 위해 용인대학교 연극학과에서는 2007년 졸업공연 작품<어둠의 자식들>을 무대화 하였다. 필자는 이 공연에 참여해 그 제작 과정을 탐구하고, 또한 학생들을 지도하였으며 이를 바탕으로 본 논문에서 가면을 위주로 한 구상연극의 창작과 정이 실제 공연에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지 그 가능성에 대해 알아 볼 것이다. ，韩语论文范文，韩语论文 |
