From old times, tea has been the favorite beverage enjoyed in all parts of the world and has become an important element in our lives. Tea benefits our body and mind. Particularly, tea is known to be effective for preventing adult diseases, longevity, skincare, diet, anticancer, and antioxidant effect. Because of this, tea and tea culture have become the best alternative for modern-day people to lead healthy and leisurely lives, so they attract much attention globally. Currently, the tea industry and tea culture in Korea have become diversified and many developments have been made, but in the aspect of the industry, the quality and the diversity of tea are insufficient, and in the aspect of culture, the tea culture is inflexible as it is centered on the tea ceremony, so the developments are stagnant. To resolve these situations, the development and the commercialization plan of tea culture contents are urgently required. In this context, this research chose Dasan, who accomplished the revival of tea culture in the Joseon Dynasty and who has been chosen as a world cultural figure by the USCO, as the core of the development of the contents. And it chose Gangjin as the region to which the contents are applied since Gangjin not only retains the essence of Dasan tea culture but also has greater potentials for growth of the tea industry than Boseong and Hadong. Accordingly, this research examined the current conditions of Dasan tea culture contents centering on the Gangjin Region and examined the life of Dasan and his tea life in Gangjin for the purpose of the development and the utilization of new contents. And through the field survey of the Gangjin Region, Dasan tea culture historic sites and Dasingye, tea culture facilities related to Dasan in Gangjin, Dasan cultural festivals and the changes and current conditions of Dasan tea were investigated. Also, the development strategies for the continuous and long-term utilization of Dasan tea culture contents were established and, based on this, the five ways of utilizing Dasan tea culture contents were presented. First, the Dasan tea road tour utilizing the tea culture historic sites. The tourist attractions related to Dasan tea culture in the Gangjin Region include Weolchulsan Montain, Weolnamsaji, Baeleonsa Temple, Saeujae and Dasanchodang. The Tea Road Tour, i.e. the tea culture field survey program, in which these tourist attractions and Dasan Memorial Hall, Dasan Training Center, and Dasan-related tea programs are converged, was developed. Second, the forming of new ‘Dasingye’. New ‘Dasingye’ is a social cooperative and is formed by combining Dasingye ,which was tea production community, with Dasan which is Gangjin’s own history and culture, and is expanded to the 100,000 Tea Solidarity of Ganjin-gun County people and other regions’ people, thereby expanding the base of tea culture. Third, the holding of Dasan tea culture festival. The Dasan tea culture festival, in which the current Dasan memorial ceremony and the Gangjin tea competitive show were integrated into the internal program, is held in 2018 marking the 200th anniversary of Dasingye. This researcher proposed that the program be composed of Gangjin tea brand launching show, tea art performance and tea party, tea industry exhibition, Dasan symposium, and publication of the picture book, ‘Dasingye.’ Fourth, the holding of Dasan tea culture contest. The Dasan tea culture contest is needed to inherit and diffuse widely the Dasan’s scholarly achievements and tea culture, and it is held along with diverse book culture, tea experience, guest lectures, and the events of discussions on reading, and it will become a cultural event that represents Gangjin. Finally, the development of Dasan tea and application products. Since Dasan tea has a sufficient brand value, it is necessary to develop diverse high-class and functional tea products by utilizing this. To do this, this researcher proposed that diverse tea beverage that meets the demand and taste of the modern-day people be developed and be developed into ICT contents. Greater synergy effects can be attained when the above-mentioned contents are partially or entirely integrated when utilizing Dasan’s tea culture contents This research has significance in that it has newly explored and presented the ways of concrete application of the contents that consist of Dasan tea road tour, the forming of a social cooperative New Dasingye, the converged and integrated Dasan tea culture festival, Dasan tea culture contest, the development of Dasan tea and application products through organic utilization of Dasan tea culture contents in the Gangjin Region and the rediscovery of the value of Dasingye. However, this research has limitations of having not actually performed the procedural process for the application of the tea culture contents. In the follow up researches, more concrete researches on the methods of realizing such contents are needed.
