본 논문은 자연과 인간이 완전하게 다른 존재로 나누어 져 존재하는 것이 아니라 하나로 완전히 몰입된 경지인 물아일체[物我一體] 의 사상을 바탕으로 한 작품 연구이다. 자연을 단순히 허... 본 논문은 자연과 인간이 완전하게 다른 존재로 나누어 져 존재하는 것이 아니라 하나로 완전히 몰입된 경지인 물아일체[物我一體] 의 사상을 바탕으로 한 작품 연구이다. 자연을 단순히 허무적, 해체적으로 관조하기보다 능동적, 순환적으로 인식하고 그 안에서 유희성과 긍정성을 찾아 표현한 연구자의 작품에 관한 연구로써 작품의 형성배경을 밝히는 것과 동시에 내용적 형식적인 측면에서 분석한 글이다. 유년기의 자연친화적인 환경과 불교사상인 화엄사상의 영향으로 자연을 능동적으로 받아들이고 만끽한 무위자연[無爲自然]적 체험은 현재까지 가장 큰 영향을 준 경험이다. 또한 무목적적인 미의식을 가진 아버지로부터 견학한 유희성은 현재의 작품의 주요 테마이다. 오토마티즘의 형식을 취하여 이러한 유희성을 강조하고 그 유희성은 곧 해학성과 직결된다. 민속 문화인 목인과 상여를 통해서 해학적 요소를 탐구하고 작품 안에 재해석하여 등장시키면서 고유섭의 한국의 미의식을 현대적으로 받아들인다. 한국의 민속장례문화에서 찾은 부정에서 긍정으로 전환되는 그 의미는 현실의 아픔을 웃어넘기는 열반과 초극과도 같은 지점이다. 작품의 분석에서는 허무함을 초극하고 능동적으로 긍정하려고 하는 테마를 어떻게 형식적으로 형상화하였는지 설명하였는데 그것은 탈착 드로잉 기법과 사진 위에 먹선으로 드로잉을 하는 방법, 그리고 탁본의 방식으로 표현한다. 탈착 드로잉 기법은 붙어있는 재료를 떼어내면서 가려진 순수로의 회귀, 성선설을 의미하고 사진위에 드로잉을 하는 기법은 찰나를 찍어낸 이미 지나버린 한 순간에 유희적인 드로잉으로 먹선을 새기며 허무한 현실 속에서 능동적으로 살고자 하는 의미를 넣은 것이다. 탁본의 방식은 현실로 있는 악기를 탁본으로 108개를 찍어내면서 수양의 방식으로 그것을 해석하고 번뇌의 해체를 기대한 작업이다. 이처럼 연구자의 작품은 형식과 그 내용이 타당하게 부합되는 것을 꾀한다. 따라서 본 논문은 유년기의 경험으로부터 작품의 형성 과정에 거친 형식적 측면까지 긴밀한 관련성을 가지고 있다. 모든 것이 없어지고 해체되어 가는 허무함을 능동적 허무주의로 초극하여 받아들이고‘물아일체’의 마음으로 세상을 관조하고 표현하는 연구자의 작품세계에 대해 발전시켜 나가는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 또한 향후 한국의 미와 현대적인 미의 합목적적인 융합에 있어 더욱 심층적인 분석에 대한 토대로 활용하는데 그 목적이 있다.
