A Study of Reading Comprehension Characteristics of Multi-cultural Higher Grade Students in Elementary School The purpose of this study was (1) to compare the reading abilities(i.e., vacabulary, reading comprehension, comprehension monitoring) of 5th and 6th elementary school students with multi-cultural backgrounds with those of normally-developing students, and (2) to analyse the reading motivation among them. A total of 276 students (190 normally-developing students, 75 multi-cultural students born in korea, and 22 students with immigrants backgrounds) participated in a variety of tests measuring vocabulary, comprehension questioning, comprehension monitoring, reading motivation. For data analysis, a multivariate analysis of variance(MANOVA) was carried out to explore group differences across vocabulary, comprehension questioning, comprehension monitoring and reading motivation. The result of this study are summarized as follows: First, there were statistically significant differences between the four groups on vocabulary, comprehension questioning and comprehension monitoring abilities. Second, the reading motivation was also statistically significant different between the four groups. The summary of the results, limitations of this study, and directions for future studies were discussed. ,韩语论文,韩语论文 |
