먼저 2장에서 설문지법을 활용하여 학습자들을 대상으로 고전 소설과 고전 소설 수업, 그리고 <박씨전>에 대한 인식을 조사하여 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 <박씨전>에서 학습자들이 ‘변신’ 모티프에 가장 흥미를 느끼는 것을 발견하고 이와 관련하여 다양한 수업 방법을 모색할 수 있었다. 또한 '변신' 모티프가 작품 속에서 어떠한 문학적 의미를 갖는지에 대하여 논의하였다.
