This thesis was intended to analyze the language used at a chatting room through the internet among various computer communications. A chatting language was not only different from a daily language but also even more changeable than other computer languages.
In this , I tried to analyze the differences between a daily language and a computer chatting language. The results of analysis showed that the computer chatting language consisted of three aspects.
1. The Aspect of Spelling
First, netizens tended to spell the words as it was pronounced or use the reduced syllables so that he could spell the words quickly. This made netizens relieve the mental burden which he/she felt when he spelled correctly according to the rules of orthography. It was also considered to be spelt lengthened words or tied words as the economical efficiency of language.
Second, netizens tended to transform the words to maintain a unique mood formed during chatting intentionally. There were, for example, vowel transformation and consonant transformation. This situation resulted from hoping to express their thoughts interestingly, comically and freely. It was in this context that netizens used various letter marks for expressing their emotions.
Third, in many cases, netizens wrote incorrectly because of his/her deficiency of grammatical knowledge and transcription of words. The typical example was to mis-write voiced plosive sounds for voiceless plosive sounds and mis-write a negative word '아니〔ani〕'or '안〔an〕 and the predicate '되다〔doe da〕' for other words. In addition to these examples, there were many cases the chatting person didn't know the grammatical morphemes. These days this situations also was occurring in our real life. This point was indicated that we must be careful when we perform students Korean education.
2. The Aspect of Grammar
A chatting language had various kinds of features such as a incomplete sentence, irregular declension of an ending , the omission of a postposition words, incorrect word order, the ignorance of a polite expression. In the chatting room, sentences often ended incompletely because they must be transferred very quickly. Because of the same reason as this, the sentences usually ended with noun or with a part of the predicate omitted. And a postposition word also was omitted and a word order was not arranged correctly. Especially to express negative meanings clearly, the chatting person tried to use lots of short negative sentences and reduced words. When it comes to a polite expression, it's common that they used the word, '님〔nim 〕', which is an honorific title

3. The Aspect of Vocabulary
In the chatting room, netizens used a lot of ungrammatical words such as a slang, a jargon, a kind of foreign word, a dialect and a jargon related to broadcasting, etc. Some of them especially used a term of abuse. The abuse used in the chatting room were delivered by only between netizens taking part in the room but if the abuse were open to the public, it might have an bad effect on others. izen used also lots of jargons compared with the sysops. For example, there were '중딩〔jung-ding〕', 대딩〔dae-ding〕', 직딩〔gik-ding〕' which indicated a person's job and ''짱나다.〔zzangnada〕','씹히다〔ssipida〕', '생까다〔sangkkada〕', which meant a person's action or his/her mood. This jargons might cause communication gap or generation gap between netizens and computer illiteracy people when it was used in daily life.
izens often tended to use some foreign words or loan words habitually in spite of the situation they must use korean language. It seemed to be a serious problem that this situation might lead us to forget our unique words. And netizens also used a lot of well-known dialects such as ‘강퇴〔gang-toe〕', 잠수〔jam-su〕', 귓말〔gwimal〕', ’하이〔hai〕'to express fun or familiar atmosphere and used onomatopoeia like '쿠쿠쿠〔kukuku〕', '힝힝힝〔hinghinghing〕' to compensate for insufficiency of written language.
Another feature of the chatting language was much more colloquial than other languages.
In brief, a chatting language had many kinds of features such as a incomplete sentence, the omission of a postposition word, the use of dialect and informal words. The above features was different from those of other communication languages such as a bulletin language or a daily language. But the use of a jargon, a mark, a loan word to maintain the unique atmosphere in a chatting room was the common features.
we must try to use language correctly. To do this, not only teachers and parents but also students must have interest for correct expression for themselves and the authorities concerned must establish a proper policy continually. It is highly desirable that recently netizens are starting a movement to purify the improper communication language and use the correct words. This movement will make netizens calm down, what so called, 'the cyber-word syndrome' to the extent.
