1978년 개혁ㆍ개방 정책 실시 이후 중국은 社會, 經濟, 科學, 文化를 비롯해 각 분야에서 비약적인 발전과 변화를 이루었다. 이러한 변화의 소용돌이 속에 가장 민감하게 반응한 것은 바로 ‘언어’이다. 즉 변화하는 사회 속에서 형성된 수많은 新造語들은 社會相을 엿 볼 수 있는 열쇠라고 할 수 있다. 필자는 언어란 그 사회의 각 분야를 이해해야 비로소 완성된다고 생각한다. 즉 新造語란 열쇠가 없다면 그 나라의 언어를 완벽히 열 수 없는 것이다. 하루가 다르게 변화하는 사회, 그와 더불어 변화하는 언어를 제대로 알지 못한 채, 교과서에 나오는 중국어만으로는 결코 中國通이 될 수 없다. 진정한 中國通이 되기 위해선 변화하는 중국사회와 언어에 대한 지속적인 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문은 이러한 사고를 바탕으로 쓰여 졌다.
본고의 구성은 제Ⅰ장에서 硏究動機와 目的을 서술하면서 대표적인 新造語 硏究에 대한 先行硏究와 硏究措施 및 硏究範圍를 검토하였다. 제Ⅱ장에서는 新造語에 대한 定義 및 類型에 대해 알아보았다. 제 Ⅲ장에서 新造語의 形成方式에 대해 서술함으로써 新造語에 대한 전반적인 이해를 도운 후, 新造語의 중요 공급원인 外來語와 브랜드 네이밍에 의해 형성된 新造語에 대해 서술하였다. 개방 이후 중국에는 무수한 외국계 기업들이 진출했다. 원래 자사 상표와 더불어 中文상표를 반드시 등록해야만 하는 중국의 상표법 때문에 각 기업들은 브랜드 네이밍에 각고의 노력을 기울인다. 이렇게 만들어진 새로운 브랜드 네임들 또한 新造語의 또 다른 공급원이라 여겨 실제 중국에 진출한 기업들의 브랜드 네임을 예로 제시하며 연구하게 되었다. Ⅳ장은 본 논문의 핵심이라 할 수 있는 부분으로써 政治ㆍ經濟, 社會ㆍ文化, 科學ㆍ技術 등 크게 3가지로 나누어 각각 그 예를 제시함으로써 社會相을 反映한 新造語에 대해 연구하였다. 2001년 WTO(세계 무역 기구)가입을 발판으로 중국은 금융ㆍ서비스 시장의 문이 활짝 열림으로써 경쟁력과 효율을 중시하는 방향으로 중국 경제의 패러다임이 급변했고, 주요 국가 경제지표와 세계 순위에서 셀 수 없이 많은 현란한 기록들을 쏟아내는 기염을 토해냈다. 이러한 ‘CHINA POWER’를 실감하며, 세계 각 국의 기업들은 앞 다투어 중국 시장 진출에 열을 올리기 시작했다. 이러한 사회적 배경으로 인해 중국에는 방대한 양의 新造語가 형성되었다. 경제발전 뿐 아니라, 인터넷의 발달 또한 新造語의 중요한 공급원이 되고 있다. Ⅳ장에서는 新造語의 나열식 연구에서 벗어나, 각각의 단어가 형성된 社會的 背景을 토대로 서술하였다.
사회는 끊임없이 변화하고, 변화하는 사회에 맞춰 새로운 단어 또한 끊임없이 형성될 것이다. 위에서 언급했듯이 언어는 변화하는 社會相을 엿 볼 수 있는 열쇠이다. 이 열쇠가 녹슬지 않게 하기 위해서는 新造語에 대한 연구가 지속적으로 이루어 져야 할 것이다.

Since the opening policy has been released in 1978, rapid progress and changes in a social sphere has been continued including economy, science and culture in China. According to this dramatic development in various fields, the language has been also changed to a great deal. Considering that a society is embedded in its language, the newly coined word can be dealt as a key to understand the target society. Therefore, this research is based on a belief that understanding the society is decisive to study a language and to become a professional user of it. In this perspective, study of ‘newly coined word’ can be a meaningful to look at changes of Chinese society and Chinese itself.
In order to achieve this purpose, this study is focusing on newly coined words which were introduced and used from 1978 and up until now. These words are chosen from 《中韓新造語詞典》 comparing to《現代漢語詞典》 and studied in terms of their pattern and formation. Furthermore, the implication is analyzed in three perspective; political and economical, social and cultural, and scientific and technological perspective. Finally, backgrounds of the birth of the newly coined word were studied in terms of the society.
A society is constantly changed and developed, therefore, newly coined words are increasing accordingly. As stated above, language is a key mirroring changes of society. As a result, the continuous study in this field is suggested for understanding the language itself in a relation to its society.
