The purpose of the present study is systematically modeling knowledge for academic writing in Korean. The knowledge for academic Korean writing refers to the knowledge the writer should know when writing in Korean, which is required to compose Korean writing with academic purposes, e.g., s, critics, etc. The present study firstly conceptualized the notions and characteristics of knowledge for academic Korean writing by reviewing the previous literature that provides theoretical foundations; then, the study modeled the constructs of the knowledge. The constructs of the knowledge consist of scopes and properties. The scopes of the knowledge involve the task knowledge, content knowledge, context knowledge, language system knowledge, and writing process knowledge. The content knowledge was further classified into existing content knowledge, intertextual content knowledge, knowledge synthesis content knowledge; the context knowledge was classified into the sociocultural context knowledge, audience context knowledge, and text context knowledge. The properties of the knowledge were classified into the conceptual knowledge, procedural knowledge, and metacognitive knowledge. In order to select the items of the knowledge for academic Korean writing, the study conducted a textbook analysis, literature review, and a questionnaire-based survey with the students learning Korean as an additional language. From these preliminary analyses, the study extracted 154 items of the knowledge for academic Korean writing. An interview was conducted with teaching professionals in order to modify and elaborate the 154 items, which later made a total of 174 items. The items retrieved were then used as the items for the questionnaire, which measured students’ learning needs for academic Korean writing. The learning needs were measured in order to identify whether each item was necessary for students when writing Korean for academic purposes. The learning needs were analyzed by using the paired samples test, Borich needs assessment model, and the Locus for Focus model. All items in the questionnaire were statistically significant. Based on this finding, the study finally retrieved 174 items as the knowledge for academic writing in Korean. The results of the present study implies that (1) the task knowledge and writing process knowledge can be supported by the metacognitive knowledge internalized, which leads students to plan, check, and review the whole process of writing; (2) the content knowledge requires student’s knowledge about the topic and the procedural knowledge for intertextuality; (3) the context knowledge requires understanding of discourse in academic community and the procedural knowledge; and (4) language system knowledge requires conceptual knowledge for accurate use of Korean and the procedural knowledge. The results of the present study suggest the components of academic writing in Korean, which will further provide a foundation for education of Korean writing. In modeling the constructs of the knowledge, the present study includes literature review, textbook analysis, as well as students’ opinion towards writing. As the study includes learning needs analysis, the results will help develop learner-centered instruction. The validity of the research was enhanced by conducting an analysis with teaching professionals. Despite the strength of the research, the study also involves some limitations. Because the study mainly discuss the cognitive aspects of Korean writing, it does not sufficiently offer pedagogical suggestions, e.g., teaching methods, etc., which can more directly support teaching practice. Given this, there seems to be a need for research that further elaborates how the constructs of the knowledge can be more effectively instructed and developed in a classroom teaching Korean writing. ,韩语论文网站,韩语论文 |
