A comparative study between 'jom' in Korean and similar expression in Chinese This study aims to find the relationship between ‘jom’ in South Korean and“请您,稍,稍微,有点,一点,韩语毕业论文,一会,一下,一些”in Chinese on the aspects of meaning and usage. As an degree adverb in South Korean, ‘jom’ usually means ‘degree or little’ and ‘deficiency of time’. However, ‘jom’ can functions differently in many situations. Its functions of showing modesty, emphasis and indirect rejection can be divided into” invitation, suggestion, provision, explanation, blame, command, sigh’. ‘jom’ can make the relationship between addressor and listener eases or discords. So it is difficult to choose right way of expression in communication. We should not only teach the literal meaning of words but also understand speaker’s deep meaning. In this study, chapter one shows the aim of studying South Korean adverb ‘jom’ and explain the way of study with the help of previous studies. Chapter two shows different meanings and usages of ‘jom’ through listing example sentences. Chapter three aims to compare ‘jom’ with corresponding ones in Chinese. Chapter four shows the necessity of teaching ‘jom’ deeply through finding contents of Korean textbooks for foreign learners. Chapter five concludes previous chapters’ contents and shows drawbacks of this study. |
