The purpose of this study was to examine the validity and the reliability of a Korean version of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Positive Identity Measure (K-LGB-PIM). The LGB-PIM was developed by Riggle, Mohr, Rostosky, Fingerhut & Balsam(2014) to measure the positive lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) identity. To validate LGB-PIM in Korean, item translation, item analysis, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) were conducted with 205 self-identified male or female individuals who also identified as lesbian, gay, or bisexual (MF-LGB) in study 1. one item was discarded because there was a problem in factor loading. 5 factors were extracted from the items, which was a same finding from the original scale. In study 2 with the remaining sample of 206 MF-LGB identified individuals, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) supported the 5 factors structure of the K-LGB-PIM. All 5 factors showed adequate internal consistency. Criterion validity were good with other identity related scales (LGBIS, AS, SIS) and well-being related scale (MHC-F). In conclusion, the K-LGB-PIM is a valid measure of positive lesbian, gay, and bisexual identity in Korean population. The implications, practical use, and suggestions for future study were discussed.
