한국과 중국은 모두 전통적으로 예의를 중요하게 여긴다. 그래서 일상적인 언어생활에서 나이, 직업, 신분에 따라 쓰는 말을 신중하게 선택하여 사용한다. 자기보다 지위가 높은 사람이나 나이가 더 많은 사람한테 상대방을 높이는 것을 통해 존경을 표현한다. 자신보다 지위가 낮은 사람이나 나이가 어린 사람에게 자신을 낮추기를 통해 상대방의 체면을 유지한다. 한국 사회와 중국 사회에서는 아직도 이러한 공손 표현을 통하여 사람의 인품과 수양을 평가한다. 그러니까 일상생활에서 사람들은 자신의 수양을 드러내고 우호적인 인간관계를 유지하기 위하여 말하는 방식을 중시한다. 그러나 중국어와 한국어는 전혀 다른 어족에 속한다. 고립어인 중국어는 주로 어휘를 통하여 공손을 표현하는데 교착어에 속하는 한국어는 공손을 표현할 수 있는 어휘뿐만 아니라 복잡한 문법을 사용하여 공손을 표현한다. 이렇게 보면 다른 어족에 속하는 언어 간의 공손 표현 방식은 한국어를 배우는 중국학습자나 중국어를 배우는 한국학습자한테는 중요한 부분일 뿐만 아니라 쉽게 숙달할 수 있는 부분도 아니다. 특히 모국어에서 공손표현 방식이 단순한 편인 중국인 학습자들에게는 한국어 공손표현 방식에 대해 잘 이해하지 못하면 오해가 많이 생길수도 있다. 한국어는 공손 표현이 다양하기 때문에 복잡한 공손 표현을 적절하게 사용하지 않으면 대화가 불편하게 진행될 수 있다. 그래서 한국어 학습자들에게 있어서 예의를 언어적으로 표현하는 것은 원활한 한국 생활을 영위하는 데에 반드시 필요한 부분이라고 볼 수 있다.
공손표현은 많은 언어에서 나타나는데 본고에서는 한국어와 중국어의 공손 표현 방식을 대조하는 작업에 집중할 것이다. 한국어 공손을 표현하는 것이 많은 측면에서 나타나는데 중국어의 공손표현은 주로 어휘를 통해서 표현한다. 그래서 본고는 주로 어휘 측면과 문법 측면에서 양국의 공손 표현 방식을 분석하고 대조하고자 한다. 다음으로 대화자 간의 관계에 따라 설치한 설문지를 통하여 중국인 학습자들이 한국어 공손 표현의 사용양상과 나타나는 오류를 분석하여 중국인 학습자들이 한국어 공손 표현에 관한 부족한 점을 찾아보겠다.

본고의 구성은 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다.
1장에서는 본 연구의 목적과 방법을 제시한다. 다음에 선행연구는 한국어 공손표현 연구, 중국어 공손표현 연구, 한중 공손 표현 대조연구 3부분으로 나누어 살펴볼 것이다.
2장에서는 한국과 중국에서 공손에 대한 인식에 따라 공손 표현의 개념과 체계에 대해 검토해 볼 것이다.
3장에서는 어휘 측면, 문법 측면에 따라 한국어 공손 표현과 중국어 공손 표현 방식을 대조하여 분석한다.
4장에서는 실험을 통해 중국인 학습자들이 한국어 공손표현 사용 양상을 살펴보고 피험자들이 담화 대상과 장소에 따라 제대로 공손을 표현할 수 있는지 없는지를 분석한다. 그 중에서 나타나는 오류를 찾아서 오류의 원인을 분석을 시도한다.
5장에서는 한중 공손 표현 대조 분석과 중국인 학습자들이 공손 표현을 사용한 오류를 분석한 다음에는 마지막으로 본 연구의 결론을 내릴 것이다.

But the Korean and Chinese belong to different language families. Chinese is isolating language, mainly using the vocabulary to express politeness. But Korean is agglutinative language, use the vocabulary and grammar said politely. So polite expressions in Korean is not very easy to grasp for the Chinese learners. If you can not accurately use polite expressions, can cause a lot of misunderstanding. So for the Korean learners, it is necessary to correctly use polite expressions.
Many languages have a polite expression and in this comparative study on the polite expression of Korean and Chinese. By comparing the classification of the polite expression in Korean and Chinese, the similarities and differences between them will be found. There are similar parts in the principles of classifications of two languages. They have the same purpose that in order to maintain a good human relationships in the formal situation people use polite expression.
After find the similarities and differences in the two languages, using the questionnaire to have a analysis of the learner's shortcomings.
This has showed the differences and similarities of the polite expression between Korean and Chinese. Through all these, the author hopes that it can be helpful to the Korean or Chinese learners and it can be a basic study for the polite expression studies and the Korean and Chinese polite expression education researches.
