This thesis attempts to explore the development plan of Korean language education in the Far East Russia.
Korean education as a second language has been conducted for a long time, and recently, is seeking further improvement as a thoughtful Korean studies, or Koreanology. We should keep in mind that Korean language education should be settled beforehand, however, it is true that the time and resource put in language education in insufficient. For instance, Ussuriisk College of Education in Primorsky province is the only college that has a Korean Language Department. But, even this college has experienced decreasing number of applicants willing to learn and teach Korean due to low salary and uncertainty about further support. Besides, reformed educational system made the situation worse. Moreover, textbook is another serious issue. Because it is difficult to self-develop and produce in Russia, people used to order textbooks from Korea, but there has been many frictions. Thus, this thesis attempts to explore the problems with education environment, staffs, and textbooks, and to suggest sensible solutions. I hope this thesis would be another reference case in Korean language education in Far East Russia.
