It is usually known that degree adverbs cannot modify verbs which are not modified by manner adverbs. This study reconsiders the traditional claim by observing corpus data of spoken and written Korean. In this study we also examine some tendencies of verbal modification by degree adverbs. This study focuses on Korean degree adverbs such as ‘kacang’, ‘nemwu’, ‘maywu’, ‘acwu’, ‘muchek’, ‘sangtanghi’, ‘mopsi’, ‘toykey’, which have been often studied in previous researches and are found most frequently in both corpora. The spoken language corpus and the written language corpus of the Sejong corpus consist of 805,646 words and 3,891,320 words each. In both corpora, verbs which are ‘stative’ or ‘activity’ are most generally modified by degree adverbs. It is also found that the degree adverb modifies verbs of ‘achievement’. The modification of ‘semelfactive’ verbs by degree adverb is rarely found. The usage of degree adverbs modifying ‘accomplishment’ verbs is barely found but one in the spoken corpus. ,韩语论文范文,韩语论文 |
