The purpose of this thesis is to suggest Korean language teaching methods in three aspects of language, culture and literature using literary works which are valuable as language-culture materials and progress literary ability utilizing literary attribution to help to achieve the aim of lessons.
With Korean wave, globalization of Korean culture is being accomplished and universities around the world created a lecture on Korean. As foreign learners studying Korean had various, extent of interest in Korean culture became wide. Korean literatures have lately attracted considerable attention in foreign countries.
However, Korean language teaching methods using literary s is disregarded in the filed of Korean education. Also, Korean language education has treated literatures as an ancillary instrument to develop communication skills or culture ability. Although Korean education acknowledges the worth of literary works and the necessity of literary education, researches from an integrated perspective of language, culture and literature are insufficient. Accordingly this study introduces integrated teaching methods of language, culture and literature by Korean modern novels for advanced learners among students having academic objectives.
This thesis analyzed advantages of education with literatures in previous researches and then added another merit so as to insist needs to literary s. In addition, after looking into Korean teaching materials published by universities and textbooks for foreigners , It stated criteria of selection to literatures. Thereafter the study chose 'Noise pollution(soeumgonghae)' dealing with everyday life of Korea and established Korean education methods. First of all, The research set up a general goal of teaching applying literary works on the side of language, culture and literature. Educational model was made by using both integrated educational methods of language, culture and literature and pre-reading activity, while-reading activity and post-reading activity. Firstly, as linguistic education factors, students can learn a difficult vocabulary, grammar and idiomatic expressions to broaden linguistic knowledge. Besides writing reviews of the novel improves linguistic skills. Secondly, by culture education elements, sharing rice cake with neighbors when people move to a new place is introduced. Lastly, in literary educational views, reversal technique and duplex description on character are mentioned for emphasizing intention of the author. Based on educational factors of language, culture and literature, four instructional models was organized for high standards among learners setting up academic goals.
Consequently limitation of this thesis is not to implement the curriculum for Korean education in practice. Therefore further studies demonstrating teaching methods utilizing literatures in class will have to be conducted.
