한국 남성의 국제결혼 증가 추세로 인해 결혼을 통해 한국으로 이주하는 다국적 결혼이민자들이 매년 급증하는 가운데, 대부분의 여성 결혼이민자들은 한국의 문화와 언어, 사회적 관습 등에 대한 배경 지식이 부족한 경우가 많다.
문화교육은 그 나라의 이념과 정신, 전통 등을 접함으로써 풍습을 인식하는 기회가 되며, 원활한 삶의 기제로 작용한다. 여성 결혼이민자들이 한국에 정착하여 가정과 사회의 일원으로 원만한 생활을 이루기 위해서는 무엇보다 한국문화에 대한 이해가 필요하다.
그러나 현재 이루어지고 있는 문화교육은 주로 음식 만들기, 예절교육, 요리 등 체험 위주 등이 대부분이라는 한계점을 갖는다. 이와같은 프로그램만으로는 한국 문화의 가치관과 정신문화를 전수하기에 부족하다. 또한 국내 한국어 교육기관에서 일반적으로 실시하는 프로그램으로는 ‘체험’, ‘여행 및 답사’등이 대부분이다. 이들 프로그램은 대개 한국의 역사 유적지나 유명 관광지, 놀이공원 등을 방문하여 관람하는 수준에 그치고 있어 좀 더 뚜렷한 목표 하에 다양한 활동을 포함한 프로그램의 개발이 요구된다.
한국의 세계문화유산은 여성 결혼이민자들에게 문화교육의 자료로서 훌륭한 가치를 지닌다. 여성 결혼이민자들이 한국 문화를 이해하고 수용하는 것이야말로 문화적 충돌로 인한 갈등 상황을 극복하는 대안이라 하겠다. 세계문화유산을 중심으로 하는 문화교육은 그 나라의 이념과 정신, 전통에 바탕을 둔 교육이므로 문화적 차이에서 오는 오해와 갈등을 극복하는 데에 밑거름이 된다.
이에 본고에서는 유네스코에서 2013년 12월까지 지정한 불국사와 석굴암, 해인사 장경판전, 종묘, 창덕궁, 수원 화성, 경주 역사유적지, 고창·화순·강화 고인돌 유적, 조선왕릉, 안동하회마을의 세계문화유산을 통해 한국의 장묘문화와 조상숭배사상, 충·효·예절 문화, 나라가 위기에 처했을 때마다 위난을 극복하고자 하나로 뭉친 단합된 민족정신 등을 배울 수 있음을 모색해 보았다.
세계문화유산을 활용한 문화교육은 여성 결혼이민자들에게 전통의 습득과 민족정신의 함양과 함께 한국인으로서의 긍지를 형성한다. 이는 문화에 대해 친숙도를 높이고, 가정의 자녀들에게 한국의 전통과 문화를 계승하게 하는 데에도 영향을 미치리라 사료된다.

This thesis is mainly focused on how teaching the world heritage in Korea is the best way to understand Korean culture for marriage immigrant women, and considers world heritage education is possible in various ways.
Since international marriage is a growing trend among Korean men, the number of marriage immigrant women is increasing. However, most marriage immigrant women have very little knowledge of Korean culture, language, and social customs.
Culture education can be an opportunity to learn customs, and can be a mechanism for a peaceful life through experiencing the ideology, mind, and tradition of the nation. Understanding the Korean culture is necessary for the marriage immigrant women to live in Korea as a member of a Korean family and society. However, culture education these days teaches Korean culture with boundaries of cooking Korean food, taking etiquette lessons and other activities that are focused more on experiencing the culture. These programs are not enough to learn the cultural value and moral culture of Korea. Also, some Korean education organizations mostly run programs such as ‘Experience’or ‘tour’. They take people to visit Korean historical sites, famous tourist sites, or amusement parks. These programs demand the development of a program with various activities and a clear goal involved.
The world heritage of Korea is worthy as a culture education for marriage immigrant women. Understanding and accepting Korean culture can be an alternative to overcome the conflict situation in terms of culture differences. Culture education that is focused on world heritage will be a foundation to overcome the illusions from the culture difference since it is based on the ideology, mind, and tradition of the nation.
Therefore, this thesis finds how immigrant women can learn Korean funeral culture, ancestor worship, loyalty, filial piety, etiquette culture, and the racial spirit through world heritages in Korea such as Bulguksa Temple, Seokguram Grotto, Haeinsa Temple Janggyeong Panjeon, Jongmyo Shrine, Changdeokgung Palace, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, Historical sites in Gyeongju, Gochang, Hwasun and Ganghwa Dolmen sites, Royal Tombs of the Jeseon Dynasty, and Andong Hahoe Village that were designated by USCO in December, 2013.
Culture education using the world heritage develops learning about the tradition, the racial spirit, and the pride as Koreans to marriage immigrant women. It enhances the depth of intimacy of the culture and affects passing down Korean tradition and culture to their children.
