The purpose of this study is to establish the base of teaching Korean to immigrant youth who wants to get a job in korea.
Nowadays, immigrant youth is considered as a new phenomenon. but no study exists for immigrant late adolescence who wants to get a job. Therefore, appropriate education should be provided to fulfill young immigrants' needs.
The first chapter presents necessity, purpose and research method of this study after exploring previous researches.
In the second chapter, a survey and an interview are conducted to gather what immigrant late adolescence want to. They need to change their visas into ones permitting to work and live in Korea for a long time and also especially do Korean fluently. Furthermore, they don't have any information about job market in Korea, but their aptitude. So a number of experiences on various job fields should be provided to immigrant youth in Korea through job-experience programs.
Therefore, the third chapter suggests the way to support from an aspect of policy and education. First of all, from an aspect of policy, the government needs to institute policies that guarantee immigrants' status and admit their career from their own country. Also, useful tips for living in Korea should be provided through adapting programs right after immigration.
From an aspect of teaching Korean, goal of teaching korean is to guarantee the basic livelihood in korea and help them find a job, so that they can adapt to korean society. This study suggests a communication approach, a learner-centered teaching method and a task-centered approach as a teaching method. The curriculum is divided into three parts: basic, elementary and intermediate course. The basic course is focused on teaching practical Korean, and the beginning and intermediate course treated teaching Korean language skills that can be used in each job field.
