본고는 국내 대학에서 호텔관광학을 전공하고자 하는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위해 호텔관광학 기본 어휘를 선정하는데 목표를 두었다.
1장에서는 호텔관광학 기본 어휘 선정의 필요성 및 연구 목적을 살펴보고 학문 목적 한국어 분야에 대한 선행연구를 살펴보았다.
2장에서는 요구분석의 개념과 그 필요성에 대해 살펴보고 그 대상과 절차를 정하였다.
3장에서는 교수자와 학습자 요구분석을 실시하였다. 이는 교수자와 학습자 모두 면담과 설문조사의 형태로 이루어졌다. 그 결과 교수자들은 문화적 문제점과 언어적 문제점에 대해 공통적으로 언급하였으며 이 중 언어적 문제점은 어휘량의 향상이 필요함을 보여주었다. 외국인 유학생들은 대학 입학 전 대학 수학과 관련된 수업의 부재 그 중에서도 전공 어휘의 어려움, 대학 수학 한국어 어휘 보충의 필요성을 언급하였다. 학습자와 교수자 모두에게서 전공 관련 기본 어휘의 필요성이 드러났다.
4장에서는 학문용 기본 어휘를 선정하는 과정을 기술하였다. 호텔관광학을 전공하고자 하는 외국인 유학생들에게 맞는 기본 어휘를 선정하기 위해 선정 기준을 명확히 하였다. 어휘들의 특성을 고려하여 어휘를 선정하였으며 호텔관광학의 어휘들 중 명사에 집중하여 선정하였다.
5장에서는 위의 논의를 정리하고 그 한계와 나아갈 방향에 대해 논의 하였다.
본고가 국내 대학에서 호텔관광학을 공부하고자 하는 외국인 유학생들에게 기본 어휘에 대한 방향과 기초 지식을 전달하는 초석이 되기를 희망한다.

The goal of this study is to choose basic vocabularies of hospitality & tourism management for Korean learners who major in hospitality & tourism management at Korean universities for academic purposes.
Chapter 1 states the necessity and purpose of the study and examines the advanced research on Korean language area for academic purpose.
Chapter 2 focuses on the concept of need analysis and its necessity and chooses the target and procedure.
Chapter 3 investigates professors and learners need analysis. This was done through interview and survey. The common result was that the professors mention both cultural and linguistic problems. The problem with linguistic was that increase of vocabulary was needed. Foreign students pointed out the absence of university classes and difficulties learning terminology in the field they major in and the needs to learn new vocabularies in Korean when studying at University prior to enrollment. It was found that it was a common need for both students and professors to acquire basic terminology related to the field they major in.
Chapter 4 shows the procedure of selecting basic academic vocabularies. The standard of selection was clarified to choose appropriate basic vocabularies for the foreign students who wish to major in hospitality & tourism management. The properties of vocabularies considered for their selection and the nouns were given additional attention among the terminology of hospitality & tourism management.
Chapter 5 summarizes the discussions dealt in the preceding chapters and briefs the limitation of the topic suggests the future directions.
It is hoped that this study can be a foundation to set directions and a chance to acquire fundamental knowledge on the basic vocabularies for those foreign students who major in hospitality & tourism management in Korea.
