The purpose of this study is to present teaching methods, which utilize Cohesive Devices to improve writing ability of Korean learners for academic purposes. Through collecting the answers written by Korean and foreigner from a test at university, the patterns of Cohesive devices teaching method for descriptive writing were compared. Unlike s or graduation s, the exam answer should be submitted in the limited time by composing it. Not only it is supposed to be memorized but also, Korean learners have to know how their knowledge being developed. It is especially necessary to utilize discourse from daily life and needs systematical and repetitive drills.
This is structured as follows:
In the first chapter, the purpose, necessity, and the object of this study are defined. Also, studies on the education for Korean writing and through Cohesive Devices on learning ability.
In the second chapter, it is organized theoretical research for academic purposes writing and theoretical background of Cohesive Devices are examined. Also, the preceding research of writing class model and literature research analysis for the educational application of Cohesive Devices are conducted.
In the third chapter, the result of theoretical background outlined in Chapter 2, the subject of analysis and the method of this research are determined. Before a study on analysis of, it is given concrete information from the Korean students and foreign students’ exam answers involved in their specific characteristics. The analysis of exam answers are displayed on a basis method of Cohesive Device development.
In the fourth chapter, based on Chapter 3, Cohesive Devices teaching method is founded to use expository text. First, exam answer models with utilizing Cohesive Device, which are acquired from the analysis, are displayed through Expository Text. Next, genuine writing with test preparation lesson plans, which utilize Cohesive Devices and are directly applicable in authentic classroom environment, have been devised.
Finally, in the fifth chapter, the content of this study is summarized and both its significance and limitations are indicated.
This analyzes genuine exam answers by Korean and foreign university students in undergraduate and graduate programs. It also proposes writing exam education methods with Cohesive Devices. Previous studies which dealt with problems arising in exam answers indicated the need for Cohesive Devices education but, failed to offer more than mere lists of Cohesive Devices. The significance of this study lies in the fact that, by placing Cohesive Devices within the exam structure, it offers a visual exam answer model of Cohesive Devices utilization methods.

본 연구는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자의 쓰기 능력 향상을 위하여 문법 결속 장치를 활용하는 쓰기 수업 방안을 마련하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 학문 목적 쓰기의 한 유형인 시험 답안 쓰기를 중심으로 실제 대학 및 대학원에서 치러진 한국인과 외국인의 시험 답안을 수집하여, 설명적 텍스트를 작성하기 위한 전개 방식에 따른 문법 결속 장치 사용 양상을 비교 분석하였다.
시험 답안의 경우 보고서나 논문 작성과는 달리 질문에 맞게 암기한 지식을 제한 시간 안에 문항에 맞도록 작성해야 하므로, 내용 지식뿐만 아니라 문항에 따른 내용 설명 전개 방법에 대한 지식을 요구한다. 특히 이러한 경우 학습자들은 주로 사용하는 표현을 문장 차원에서부터 학습해야 하며 체계적이고 충분한 훈련이 선행되어야 한다..
이에 본 연구는 다음과 같은 순서로 진행되었다.
Ⅰ장에서는 본 연구의 목적과 필요성, 연구의 대상을 밝히고 학문 목적 한국어 쓰기 교육 분야와 문법 결속 장치와 관련된 앞선 연구의 검토 및 문제 제기를 하였다. 이를 토대로 연구의 방법을 서술하였다.
Ⅱ장에서는 본고의 논의를 위해 학문 목적 쓰기에 대해 정리하고, 설명적 텍스트가 지닌 논의 전개 구조와 문법 결속 장치에 대한 이론적 배경을 검토하였다. 또한 선행 연구의 쓰기 수업 모형을 살펴 문법 결속 장치의 교육적 적용을 위한 문헌 연구를 실시하였다.
Ⅲ장에서는 Ⅱ장에서의 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 본 연구에서의 분석 대상과 방법을 정리하고, 분석에 앞서 한국인 모어 화자와 외국인 유학생의 시험 답안에 관한 구체적인 정보와 특징을 기술하였다. 그리고 시험 답안 분석을 통해 그 결과를 설명적 글의 전개 방식에 따라 진술하였다.
Ⅳ장에서는 Ⅲ장에서의 분석 결과를 토대로 설명적 쓰기를 위한 문법 결속 장치 교육 방안을 모색하였다. 먼저 분석을 통해 얻어낸 문법 결속 장치 수업 원리와 이를 적용한 쓰기 수업 모형을 제시하였다. 다음으로 문법 결속 장치를 활용하는 쓰기 수업 방안의 실제적인 예를 제시하였다.
마지막으로 Ⅴ장에서는 지금까지의 논의를 정리하고 연구의 의의 및 한계점을 제시하는 것으로 연구를 마무리를 하였다.
본 연구는 실제 대학 및 대학원에서 치러진 시험 답안을 수집하여 한국인의 답안과 외국인의 답안 분석을 통해 문법 결속 장치 교육을 위한 원리 및 수업 방안을 제안하였다. 기존의 연구가 시험 답안에 나타난 전반적인 문제점에 대해 다루면서 문법 결속 장치 교육이 필요성을 언급하거나, 그 목록만을 제시한 것에 그친 반면 본고에서는 설명적 전개 구조에 해당하는 문법 결속 장치를 가시화하여 제시함으로써 학문 목적 학습자의 쓰기 능력 향상에 기여했다는 점에서 연구의 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
