Abstract
The goal of this research is to research the teaching method for reading Korean language using the <Chun-Hyang-Jeon> texts, aiming the intermediate level Korean language learners. For the enhancement of Korean language ability, the linguistic functional education and the cultural education must be realized together, and the old novels are the texts that are appropriate for reading functional education and cultural education. For concrete and effective research of teaching method, the actual textbook was developed for <Chun-Hyang-Jeon> texts as the target, and the teaching/learning method along with the measures were suggested.
The research on the teaching method for reading Korean language by using the <Chun-Hyang-Jeon> texts are meaningful as follows.
First, the teaching/learning model in which the reading functional education and cultural education are connected, can be used not only in <Chun-Hyang-Jeon>, but also in the teaching method that uses other old novels.
Second, the stage of creating the background knowledge that utilizes multi-media supplementary textbooks was helpful for reducing the pressure of the learner and making them focus on reading activity.
Third, through the activity of reading the <Chun-Hyang-Jeon> texts, the learner can not only enhance the reading ability, but also increase their understanding about Korean language and Korean culture by effectively learning Korean cultural education.
The research on the teaching method for reading Korean language by using the <Chun-Hyang-Jeon> texts has been discussed as above. It would be necessary to continuously work to develop the textbooks that consider the level of learners by not only using the <Chun-Hyang-Jeon> texts but also using various old novel texts, and also to suggest teaching/learning model and measures.
