According to ‘the internationally married migrant family grand survey in Gyeonggido’ (2007.4.24) published by Gyeonggido Women & Family Development Institute, 84% of the marriage migrant women are in trouble for living in Korea, of which making an easy communication in Korean language(34.3%) is their hardest trouble. This can be supposed due to that the actual Korean language education for the marriage migrant women is not well conduced or in ineffective method. Therefore, it is necessary to conduce the Korean language education for the marriage migrant women more efficient and systematically. Most of the Korean language education is conduced only in the beginning level, the fact of which is hard to find the education to help the migrant women make their various expressions more correctly and all kinds of activities, who learned ordinary conversation and basic alphabetic system.
In this , we try to inquire into the actual Korean language education operated by the non-professional institution of learning, and to grope for the plan to establish the education system for the marriage migrant women’s Korean language education in the university, the professional institution of learning in order to solve this problem.
The content of this research for the marriage migrant women’s plan to establish the Korean language education system so far can be resumed as following.
In the 1st chapter, recently the international marriage is tending to be constantly increasing, and the migrant women actually living in Korea are occupied as approximately 37% of all the foreign immigrants. However, most of the marriage migrant women did not learn the Korean language but live, which causes lots of conflict and complications. The events occurred in the basic communication impossible cause the marriage migrant women’s settlement in Korea more difficult, which will be emergent to make the Korean language education for the marriage migrant women.
According as the social interests become higher for the marriage migrant women in Korea, the Korean language education made in some welfare organizations and migrant women center can be something encouraging, but these organizations are not the professional institution of learning, the fact of which is with the different problems such as the inferior educational environment or status without systematic and professional education, etc.
In the 2nd chapter, the present status was analyzed of some public institutions and its related institutions that conduct the Korean language education for the marriage migrant women in Busan to know the problem of non professional institution of learning seen in the 1st chapter. When the Korean language education was conduced in this non professional institution of learning some problems were appeared. First, the problems of public institutions that conduct independently the Korean language classroom were that most of trainers did not majored in the Korean language limited for the professional Korean language education, who with no clear trainer licensing system were substituted so frequently to the lower quality of instruction. Also, due to the unclear curriculum the learners’ class participation rate was low, with no systematic Korean language education. Namgu Complex Social Welfare Hall after being linked with the Kyungsung University both institutions could make up for mutual weak point, but Namgu Complex Social Welfare Hall intended to make general support of the marriage migrant women’s Korean language education with a viewpoint of ‘multicultural business’, while the Kyungsung University made much only of the Korean language education to find that there was the critical point of extended project with the different mutual targeting.
In the 3rd chapter, through the example of “the Korean language classroom in Kyungsung University for the marriage migrant women” operated by the university, the professional institution of learning the problem occurred by the non-professional institution of learning was to be solved. Kyungsung University is the professional Korean language institution that could make the level-differentiated instruction for the marriage migrant women with the clear curriculum, which is worth extending its area of the Korean language education for the marriage migrant women even to the advanced learner by training not only the Korean language education for the beginner and intermediate level that is conduced by most of public institutions but also the advanced level of Korean language and the Test of
Proficiency In Korean Class. And, the instructors are mostly of the Korean or Korean language majored, who could conduce the professional Korean language education for the marriage migrant women, with the multimedia teaching materials including textual teaching materials to allow the marriage migrant women to learn by themselves at home so their learning satisfaction was also higher.
The Korean language education in the professional institution of learning made for the learners’ communication skill, information flow, emotional support to form the self-help group, while the systematic learning process and professional Korean instructor, TOPIK, etc. inspired the marriage migrant women’s learning motivation, and improved the Korean language ability. The improvement of Korean language might be the effect for serving a double purpose of both enhancing the understanding of Korean culture, and of increasing familiar relationships.
The university, the professional institution of learning should be getting started in order to solve the communication problem indispensable for the marriage migrant women, and furthermore to make them serve as the professional manpower in Korea.
