This study started from a critical mind that teaching methods of "의“ are not systematic and efficient while there are a lot of students have difficulty in using "의“. Therefore this study has an object to find out efficient teaching methods of "의“ by comparing "의” with Chinese “的“ when teach "의“ to Chinese students.
“의” assumes complicated aspects that its realization is determined by the relation of front and rear nouns. It means that "의“ should be realized or may be omitted according to the relation of front and rear nouns. For using "의” properly, it is necessary to recognize when it should realized or can be omitted. There is “的” in Chinese that plays similar roles with "의“ in the sentence and Chinese students make mistakes when using "의” because there are similarities and difference between "의” and “的”. Therefore it is necessary to select and develop proper teaching contents and methods by comparing "의” and “的”.
This study intended to find out conditions that determine realization and ellipsis of “의” and efficient and proper teaching methods of “의” for Chinese students, through contrastive analysis between "의” and “的” and analysing types of errors Chinese students commit often.
Chapter 2 examined which conditions determine realization and ellipsis of “의” by comparing "의” and “的” and clarified the difference between "의” and “的”.
Chapter 3 analysed aspects of Chinese students' using “의” by analysing errors Chinese students commit.
Chapter 4 presented teaching methods which are proper to each level, considering frequency and the degree of difficulty.
This study examined aspects of Chinese students' using “의” by analysing Chinese students' composition materials and their errors and presented proper teaching methods of “의” on the basis of comparing “의” and “的 ”. Unfortunately, there were difficulties in setting objective standards to analyse Chinese students' composition materials and concluding when “의” should be realized and may be omitted because of its specific feature.
